Pontiacs have there two different indicators and as you might have
guessed the Engine light has to do with drive train components, fuel
system, exhaust sensors etc.
The Vehicle indicator has more to do with
body components such as light bulbs, braking systems, traction control
etc.
Scannerd the right module to know about this fault code stored there.
The V6 engine uses two seperate crankshaft sensors to provide two different types of signals. The 24X sensor is mounted behind the harmonic balancer, or crank pulley. This input generates 24 pulses per engine revolution.
The second crankshaft sensor is a 7X sensor that is located on the center rear area of the engine block. As the name implies, it produce 7 pulses per engine revolution.
Good Luck
I WOULD PUT BACK THE ORIGINAL ENGINE BECAUSE ALL SENSORS YOUR IGNITION COIL AND PCM DIFFERENT.YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE PCM PROBLEMS.YOUR PCM WILL NOT RECOGNIZE ENGINE. IF YOU CHANGE A 3.1L ENGINE TO A 3.4L ENGINE.YOU GOING HAVE STARTING PROBLEMS AND PCM PROBLEMS.
