Is the security light lit ? Car an pad lock symbol . If any of these are lit it is the anti-theft system . Does the engine crank over but won't start an run ? The anti-theft system will allow the engine to crank but not start , disables fuel injectors . If the anti-theft light is lit there are DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes stored in the theft deterrent module an or the ECM .

The Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) is fully passive in operation and requires no special procedures by the driver to arm or disarm the system. It is invisible to normal scrutiny and is operated by a miniature transponder within the key body. The transponder communicates with the powertrain control module through a transceiver mounted around the ignition switch lock barrel. The PATS functionality is incorporated within the powertrain control module.

PATS may be identified by a larger than normal sized ignition key. A larger sized ignition key indicates the presence of the transponder that controls the system.

The transponder code reading is carried out when the key. having been inserted into the ignition lock barrel is turned from position "0" to position "II" to crank the engine. If the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) receives the correct code the engine will start. If the PCM receives either no code or an incorrect code the engine will not crank and PATS remains armed and the engine immobilised.

Anti-Theft Indicator
Whenever the ignition is switched on the anti-theft indicator will remain on for three seconds while the system reads the ignition key code.

The anti-theft indicator will flash rapidly or glow continuously after the initial three seconds to indicate the PATS has immobilised the vehicle.

Here are two methods to reset the anti-theft system on 2007 Chevy Malibu:
1st method
1. Put the ignition in on position, let it breathe for 10 minutes, and remove it when the anti-theft system light stops blinking.
2. Crank up the engine; it should now start
2nd method
• While outside the car, press and hold the lock and unlock button together
• Let go when the car honks and the lights flash
• Put the key in the ignition and rotate to the ON position, and leave there for 30 seconds
• Switch on the car, and the anti-theft system would have reset

check the battery. with dodge if there is not a good strong 12 volt source it will run right or start normal.

If the security or anti-theft light is flashing when you attempt to start your car, and the engine does not crank or does not start, you have an anti-theft problem. The system may not be recognizing your key's key-less entry signal, or there may be a fault in the anti-theft module or wiring.
There is a reset procedure to stop this anti-theft light flashing.many a times this helps The reset procedure is as follows:-- Reset the alarm by locking and unlocking the drivers side door.Do this a couple of times and then check it will reset the factory security system . If the reset procedure does not helps then its time to get the anti-theft system checked.There is a short circuit in the anti-theft system wiring. This is the problem due to your anti theft alarm system. You have not mentioned which brand of anti-theft alarm system you have? Anyhow, most of the systems have a reset switch inside the kit, open the kit and on the main board, u will find the reset button, press that and hold for 5 sec, the system will be reset. Otherwise, there are 2 or 3 fuses with the wiring of kit, remove those fuses and ur engine will wake up but the anti-theft system wont work then, hope this will solve the problem
