It only does it in the summer months . Like a electric fan coming on for a few mins then it fades off then back on in five to ten mins later.

close, there is an emergeny fuel shutoff switch hidden in the trunk of these things burried under the carpeting, you probably have something resting on it OR water got on it and is shorting it out, my friend had a 92 taurus 3L and the switch was in the trunk, 14 inches off the trunk floor on the drivers side wall, should be a small **** in the carpeting you can push your finger through and feel it.

Check the fuse for the fan and you could test to see if you have a voltage running to the fan when the car starts to overheat. If you have no power to the fan then trace the wore and see if you cant find the problem. If you have power then the fan motor is most likely bad.
