Why are Air shocks not working? - 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LTZ

Your air pump or air shocks may have quit working. Mine would run but the shocks had an air leak. I had to get new air shocks and yes the air pump was shot so I replaced the air shocks and installed an air line below the license plate. I pump them up with my air compressor about every three months. The pump was too expensive for me.

air shocks were a option normal shocks can be bought.

there can only be a couple things either the lines going to the shocks have a hole in them and air is leaking out before it can charge the shock or the shocks seals are bad and leaking out there also check the tip where you inflate maybe take the air valve out and see if thats stopping air from reaching the shock!

You can't without a ton of adapters & fittings. Options: replace compressor or replace air shocks with aftermarket air shocks that you have to manually fill or replace with standard replacement shocks.

no neither the shock mounts or the shocks are made to hold the weight of the vehicle, it would be a disaster in the making

I hate to break the news to you but there are not any available. If the car needs shocks you have to get the air ride one from a dealer parts department.

The good news is....the shocks are probably not your problem...there are valves and sensors, as well as tubing and a pump...any of which could be the problem.

first off! check the shocks seperately with a seperate line to each shock to insure the boots are not blown!! also check the o-rings or farrow beed's around the lines where to go into the shocks for leakage with some dish soap and a spray bottle if thr shocks seems to hold air when isolated from the system then you either have a broken line or the lines where they connect to the ir pump itself are leaking of one side of the air pump it leaking internally`

Gas shocks won't work but the air shocks should get you "up" and running again.

The load leveling shock will not work if there is an issue with the compressor. If you buy the sir shock's, your going to have to address the compressor issue to even have the air shocks level the Silhouette. Once you have the compressor issue addressed, the shocks it's self is simple enough to replace that you can do it with common tools to save you some money. My wife has a Montana and we had the same problem, since we do not tow and really never hold that much weight. We replaced the rear shocks with Monroe Reflex Shocks, Found the van to be much more sturdy then the air shocks ever were and the good thing about them is there were lift time replacement at Parts Source. Regardless on which shocks your going to use, it's a good rule to replace both sides at the same time. The only difference in to reinstalling the air shocks is you need to reattach the air lines to the shocks and that's simple as removing the shocks it self. The shocks are only held on by two bolts,  one on top and one on bottom and should only take about 20 min each side to do since you have to jack the car up and remove the wheel for room, but you can remove the shocks it self without removing the wheel, it's your preference.
