1999 Chev. Tahoe with 5.7L engine wont start, Cranks over fine, battery is fully charged. The no start condition appears after sitting for several days of non use. It smells of fuel (flooding). I previously had it towed to a shop and the fuel pressure was checked over several days with no leak down. No codes are set in the ECM. Where should I look next?

Hello, yes the check valve is in the fuel pump assembly. The check valve is leaking and the pump will burn out soon. Unfortunately the aftermarket fuel pumps can be very unreliable. A good portion of problems we see on this site are from people who replace the pump sometimes twice and it still doesn't work.

replace your MAP sensor(manifold absolute pressure) the map sensor is the computer for your fuel pressure regulator telling how much pressure. Unless your tahoe runs like **** going up hill than it inevitably your fuel pump

i had similar problem. hard to start in morning but once started, would start everytime until next morning. i changed fuel pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator, coil, cap, rotor, pickup coil, battery. i was finally told the '96 had a recall on the fuel injection assemby. i changed that out with the new mpf system and it solved the problem. runs like a striped ape. hope this helps.
