Its not your mass airflow sensor or what ever the shops told you. Your v-tec solenoid is eaither very clogged up, dirty or just went bed. Have it replced, or replace it yourself. Its not that hard. Just set a couple of hours aside and tackle it. And most of the time you can but it at your local autozone, napa or advance auto. Heres a picture to show you what it looks like....

Where is iat sensor on 2006 toyota tacoma 4.ol 4door located ?

This is the 2001-2012 Toyota Tacoma wiring diagram, Toyota Tacoma IAT (Intake Air Temperature) Sensor Location and the Toyota Tacoma MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor Location, also included is a pinout of the sensor. You are likely installing a performance chip or a cold air intake kit for increased HP (Horsepower). You will want to be sure to disconnect the car battery before adding performance products.

Here is the Toyota Tacoma's Iat sensor diagram:

My 1992 nissan sentra backfires and has a loss of power.

A possible problem with the mass air flow sensor. Make sure they hooked up the air filter duct work to the throttle and the air filter box itself is closed tight. There is a fine wire inside the sensor, and this may have gotten disturbed when the master and slave were installed. Check the wiring right to it and make sure it's plugged in tight. This is the sensor that is on the air filter box in the duct work to the throttle. This can cause plenty of running issues and never turn the check engine light on. If you do need to replace your mass air flow sensor this site looks like it has cheap prices, free shipping and great reviews http://www.buyautoparts.com/mass-air-flow-meter.html

The GForce Performance Chip has 2 wired (Black and Red) and the IAT Sensor has 5. Which 2 wired I need to used? My car is a Dodge Charger 2007 I appreciate Your answer

That is not a chip, it is a resistor in a fancy package. It cost about a dollar to make it. Jet also makes one. All it does is increase the resistance in your IAT circuit so that the PCM thinks the air coming in is colder than it actually is. Since most PCMs will add timing in colder air, you can get a bit of a perforance boost this way. The problem is, modern OBD 2 systems constantly checks itself and sensors. Since the PCM also reads a mass air flow sensor and an oxygen sensor, it eventually sees that there isn't as much air getting in as expected (since colder air is more dense) so it recalibrates the air temperture sensor thinking it is fautly. So, after a couple of days your 'chip' won't make any difference at all and in some cases it can actually cause the service engine light to come on. Also, the claims they make about these chips are unfounded and ridicuouls. Even a real chip or programmer can't expect more than a 15% gain. There is no way this IAT mod will add more than 3% and that will only be the first time you drive it. Try to get your money back and find a real chip or programmer for your car. If you are just bent on putting a resistor in your IAT wire, go get one from Radio Shack for a dollar and pocket the rest of the money.

Does a 1996 Ford Taurus 3.0 have a hot wire type mass air flow sensor or a vane type? Would spraying carb cleaner into the MAF fix the problem of hard cold engine start? Once the engine warms up does the...

TheMobilian, Yes, the Mass Air Flow is a Hot Wire type. There is a spray made for the mass called mas air flow cleaner. Regular cab cleaner is too harsh and can eat the coating inside mass air flow and it's delicate parts. Use throttle bore foam cleaner; it works like bathroom scrubbing bubbles and eats the gum and varnish. When engine warms up (closed Loop) both sensors work together giving input to ecm for output. Have someone with a live data reader read both sensors. (Let me know the readings?)

Image Mass Air Flow(MAF)Sensor

PURPOSE

The Mas s Air flow (MAT) sensor measure s the amount of air flowing into the engine.

This value is used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in calculating the required

Fuel injector pulse within order to provide the desired air fuel ratio. This input can also

be used in determining Electronic Pressure Control (EPC). Shift and torque converter

clutch scheduling.

CONSTRUCTION

The MAE sensor is located directly in the airflow path between the air cleaner housing

and the throttle body. Ail air entering the intake manifold must pass through the sensor.

Located in the MAT sensor directly in the airstream are two platinum wires, a hot wire

heated by electrical current and a cold reference wire. The MAF sensor uses the air flow

across these wires to calculate its output.

OPERATION

The hot wire is maintained at 200CC (392CF) above ambient temperature as measured by

a constant cold *e. The current required to maintain the temperature of the hot wire is

proportional to the air mass flow. The MAE sensor then measures the amount of

electrical current required to maintain this temperature difference and converts this

value to an analog DC voltage. This output varies directly with the mass air flow rate.

Pay attention to the Paragraph about the torq converter.

I need to clean/replace the mass air inflow sensor. How to?

In your vehicle, the Mass Airflow Sensor is attached to the air filter assembly.

b65641c.jpg

Fig. The exposed -hot wire- of the MAF sensor

The MAF sensor uses a hot wire sensing element to measure the amount of air entering the engine. Air passing over the hot wire causes it to cool. This hot wire is maintained at 200°C (392°F) above the ambient temperature as measured by a constant cold wire. If the hot wire electronic sensing element must be replaced, then the entire assembly must be replaced. Replacing only the element may change the air flow calibration.

The current required to maintain the temperature of the hot wire is proportional to the mass air flow. The MAF sensor then outputs an analog voltage signal to the PCM proportional to the intake air mass. The PCM calculates the required fuel injector pulse width in order to provide the desired air/fuel ratio. This input is also used in determining transmission electronic pressure control (EPC), shift and torque converter clutch scheduling.

Removal & Installation
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  3. Disconnect the MAF sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the two retaining screws and the MAF sensor.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

The car stalls out while driving sometimes, but it will start right back up with problem. Theres no engine light on, or anything else on.

. Check the Mass Air Flow Sensor voltages. Verify good battery voltage to the Mass Air Flow Sensor on the White/Black wire. Verify good grounds for the Mass Air Flow Sensor on the two Black wires - look for 0.05 volts or less to be ok. Check the output voltage from the Mass Air Flow Sensor on the White wire - specification is less than 0.5 volts key on engine off and 1.0 - 1.3 volts at warm idle. The Green/Orange wire at the Mass Air Flow Sensor is not used. The Mass Air Flow Sensor can test good and still be defective.

2. Make sure the timing belt is not off a tooth. Can check ignition timing to see if one bank is on. May need to get into compression on each bank but a timing belt off a tooth or two will idle poorly but can run better at higher RPM.

Which 2 wires is The IAT on 2007 Silverado

The intake air temp sensor is the one that is not the mass air flow. It should be a little 2 wire sensor in the inlet tube. The mass air flow is near the air cleaner, and is inline with the air inlet tube.
