Are you sure it is the motor? Mine did that and it was a wire cut into in the door jamb. Pull the rubber boot back and see if your wire is cut into. If so splice it together ( I used a **** connector) and your good to go.

the only way to answer that is to pull the inner door panel off and jump 12V right to the regulator motor. If it runs, then it is the switch, if not then you need a new regulator. The regulator however has a moving part, being the motor. moving parts wear out faster. And 10 years is about the lifespan of a window motor, and the driver's door gets the most use so it usually dies first. So the default setting is to do the regulator.
