If the signal flashes on the outside of the glass, then the yellow lens will pop off the mirror assembly using a small screwdriver etc for bulb access. If the signal flashes inside the mirror assembly, the mirror will need replacement or there is a wiring issue
If it's the approach light under the mirror, the lens pops out to replace the bulb. If it's the turn signal bulb, then the mirror cover has to come off
I'd call a GMC dealer and ask for the parts department. I'd ask about the availability and price of the driver's mirror turn signal bulb. That might tell you if that bulb is replaceable. You could also ask that same delaership's service department about the labor cost to replace the bulb. If the plastic cover below the mirror will not snap off, you would probably have to remove the mirror from the door and take it apart to replace the bulb. Depending on the friendliness of the GMC service or parts department , they might tell you what to do here.
- Adjust the mirror so the mirror glass is in as
far as it will go (meaning if you were looking in the mirror you would
see the side of the truck)
- Look inside the mirror housing - Locate silver clip - Using a flat screw driver, push the clip in - Lenses will pop out on the outside - Remove bulb - Replace bulb - Snap back together when new bulb in place.

If the turn signals on the truck work correctly, this would be a bulb issue.
The best directions I have found with pictures are from Muth ( mfgr of signal mirrors ) : www.kwmuth.com Enter truck info, and on the product listing page are the install directions for download in PDF format. Download, and use the directions to the glass removal. Once the glass is out, you will see the bulb holder for the signal on the edge of the glamor cap, think this is a bulb type 39 ( ??) Have seen some people just move the glass all the way in ( so the gap is at the signal side of the mirror head ), and work it this way, I have not done this myself.
