How to reset the srs light on my 2000 ML - 2005 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes Benz E320 Cdi

same as mine needs reseting did you disconect the battery if not it will show as a fault i forgot to disconect mine and the srs light is on all the time can buy a reset tool from ebay for less than taking it to garage and getting them to do it hope this helps

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

Only a compatible scanner is going to turn this off.Don't try to do it yourself, as with any air bag/srs (supplemental restraint system), these units contain what amounts to an explosive charge, and if not handled properly, by trained folks, they can very easily cause death, ansd a nasty one at that.As long as the system detects a snag, it will continue to turn that light back on, even if you do get it turned off. The system does a circuit check soon after the car is started, on this system, and the only way to turn off that light is to fix it. Could be as simple as a clockspring, so have it checked. This is one of the only things that I'm not really willing to give much info on, due to the potential for disaster. Sorry, it's just the old grease monkey looking out for your safety. 'Supplemental Restraint System' MIL must be reset with Mercedes dedicated scanner.

This is not a DIY job unless you have such a scanner.

It is often triggered by the battery voltage dropping below 10.5 vdc. This often is due to undercharged battery or weak/old battery. Other cause is battery disconnect with ignition in the RUN position.

Finally, also caused by wiring problem such as steering wheel 'clock spring cassette' or 'squib' failure...another specialist job.

BTW..WARNING : Don't mess with the steering wheel unless you know how to deactivate the drivers air bag.(SRS)
It will cause severe injury should it deploy and people have been killed by air bags going off even out of the vehicle.

SRS (airbag) light needs to be reset by dealer or a really good specialty shop. It's a safety issue. Keep in mind if light comes back on you DO have a problem with your SRS and it needs to be addressed.

Well basically all Honda/Acura because the system sometimes "hiccups" and causing codes to trip the SRS light.

Note: If your airbag deployed or seats has been removed or anything that may have triggered the SRS, this DIY will not work for you. All you will get is two flashes or more and the light will remain on.


Tools Material Needed:
- Standard Paperclip (or wire)
- Maybe flash light (night job)

Time:
- 1 to 5 minutes

First make sure your key is out of the ignition.

Step 1:
You can use two options in this step to use to make two contact connect together:

Paper Clip, you can use the paperclip and bend it out to where both ends are next to each other so it can be put in to two pins.

try disconecting negative battery terminal for a few seconds

Take your car to an independent Mercedes Benz Mechanic Let your dealer know you will no longer be using him for you cars service.
The SRS is for your airbag system and is unable to deploy on a low battery have your NEW mechanic reset this when your battery is charged

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat
(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity problem.

I DO NOT recommend disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s).

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

Ok,
1. ensure ignition off
2 . bridge the 2 pin connector, Put a piece of wire across both terminals
3.switch ignition on
4. SRS lamp should illuminate for 6 seconds
5.disconnect the bridge wire within 4 seconds of the warning lamp extinguishing
6.SRS lamp should illuminate 2 times, Codes erased
7.switch ignition off
8 Wait 10 seconds. switch ignition on and check SRS warning lamp operation.
