1995 Corolla 1.8 bucks at freeway speeds. It happens when I let off slightly and begin to accelerate. If I let off accelerator entirely and gradually increase speed it does it less. 160,000 miles. I am sure of this. No check engine light. I have changed fuel filter , plugs and wires. It still happens
Had a similar problem that I was able to solve with an intake manifold cleaning as
There's 2 ways to clean it out....seafood through the brake booster line....or removal and carb cleanerror the end tire manifold which is best. seafood is easy and quick and might work otherwise get your self a couple of cans of degreeser/carb cleaner and expect to get a little dirty
Oop auto correct....seafoam! do not put ship or crab into your cars engine

If this is happenning when on the freeway yet find no engine trouble while idle and tested on your driveway. This sounds like you need your transmission checked. could be due to constant high speeds or transmission has not been maintenance.
Well john, try disconnecting the mass air flow meter. and try driving the car, does it act the same way, if better or the same unplugged, the mass air flow is the problem, make sure the hose to the mas air flow from the intake has no rips or holes, if they do, replace the hose. if not replace the mass air flow sensor.

I would start by cleaning the inside of the Mass Air Flow sensor, dirt gets on the sensor element from the air going through and causes these kinds of problems, a company called CRC makes the spray cleaner for MAF's, any good auto parts store will have it, the MAF is located in the air intake hose to the engine. Another thing to check is the throttle valve and air bypass idle speed control valve for sludge, use the following procedure I have written to perform this.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Sounds like the distributor advance is sticking for some reason. Is it mechanical?

did you get the car on computer to see what our check engine light i seen problem with temperature sensor the temperature sensor if it defect let say in morning its colder like 60 degre 15 celcius but the sensor is reading 80 degre the computer will not give the same anough of gas hard start not enough gas hesitation hope it FIXYA our problem thanks pierre

Could be any number of things, lets eliminate the transmission. Put the car in park and throttle the engine, is it snappy then? Or does it slowly rev up? If it still runs funny or isn't snappy, the tranny is not the problem. So it could be, weak fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or a ditributor problem. Could be a sensor to, but I've had 4 corollas and have never had a MAF sensor or others go out yet. I have had problems with the items I listed.

You should have this problem scanned as soon as possible. Usually when the engine light comes on, it means you have a problem But if it blinks its a warning that u should pull over and shut it off to prevent damage to your engine & its parts. It sounds like a fuel injection/emissions problem. I ignored this problem once & it melted my catalytic converters!
