Once you have removed the bolts, sometimes you have to take a thin flat object and insert it inbetween the pan and the transmission as the adhesive used to seal the pan gasket will hinder the removal of the pan itself. Hope that helps.

I assume that you have tried reversing the truck to get it out of 4WD. In case you haven't, turn the switch to 2WD then back up the truck about 20-30 feet. If it still won't come out of 4WD then you likely have a bad encoder motor (which selects all transfer case modes), or there is an internal problem with the transfer case. My opinion is the encoder motor is likely the trouble because usually (but not always) if there is an internal problem you would still be able to select a different mode.
