You need to first check if the fault is the bonnet release cable or the latch if you cant get the bonnet open try to apply pressure to the release cable and have an assistant apply light pressure to the underside of the bonnet front lip once you get the bonnet open spray heaps of penetrating lubricant into the latch and try to operate it (without closing the bonnet )a few times that will usually free them up always lube the latch when servicing if it cannot be freed up you should be able to see the 10 mm headed bolts that retain the latch inn place
cheers paul

Replace the bonnet latch

how to?
open hood(bonnet) and remove the latch (screws)
replace it
the adjust it . per FSM book.
if you cant open it , that is a problem. so, if the latch is cable driven
most cars we can pull side of cable (look all places for it)
do this
person one tries to lift hood
person 2 tries to pull cable.
person 3 pulls cab handle, POP!
ok its not cable driven its electric
hot wire the solenoid. find the wire to it and hot wire it.
we have to Australia cars here so our alldata.com is of no help.

How can I get someone to fix a hood latch that won't open?

I have seen instances like this and it was the cable that leads from the hood release latch to the lever that operates the bonnet that is worn out. If it's 2001 or older crv, try pushing the latch forward while having someone moving the bonnet in an open and close motion. If it's a 2002 or later model....makes sure the release latch it in the pull position the have someone try to yank open the bonnet....it's better to repair a bent hook/lever than to cut the entire bonnet off.

Best of luck,
Romone.

1999 Volkswagen Passat latch broke under hood to lift hood also hood doesn't stay up

If you have gas struts to hold the bonnet open then replace them as the gas pressure is low.. try using a long lever to come up in front of the radiator and pushing the latch sideways as some one presses down on the bonnet

My bonnet refuse to open. When the bonnet was closed, it will not open. [email protected]

get the hood open, check the operation of the latch or latches. spray with lube, recheck. replace the hood release cable assembly if necessary. if no other obvious conditions exist.

Bonnet cable broken, how to open bonnet

The cable can break either at the left or right hand latch - if you are lucky as I was, the cable operating the left hand catch was the broken one, and was broken near the right hand latch release mechanism.
I was able to open the right hand latch with the bonnet release from inside thecar.
You then have to get a piece of fairly strong wire(I used a 2.8mm welding rod) and bend a fairly tight hook in one end. Using a torch so you can see the bonnet release cable, feed the wire in through the grill and hook the swage on the end of the cable that operated the left hand latch. A frim pull on the wire should then release the left hand latch.
Good luck!

Bonnet latch will not release

You might try to push down and pull up on the front of the hood (bonnet), while someone pulls the release lever. Also, you might try spraying some WD-40 towards the latch, maybe sticking.

I ADJUSTED THE BONNET GROMITS TRYING GET BONNET TO SIT LOWER ,THEN FOUND COULD NOT GET BONNET TO RELEASE, AFTER LOADS OF ATTEMPS I FREED IT AND FOUND NOW ONLY WORKS IF SOMONE HOLDS PULLER IF I PULL BONNET...

your going to have to readjust the bumpers, there has to be tension so the hood pops up, try adjusting the latch to get the hood to close even, try that but put the bumper back or adjust acording to the latch adjustment and sprak latch good with wd40. good luck.

Hii have replaced the bonnet and the grill and the bonnet catch b

Yes but the bonnet was latched by it's strike to the latch attached to your cars radiator support therefore pulling the radiator support out of alignment and the hood/bonnet and strike are in the proper position. The solution is to adjust the bent radiator support to it's latch is in alignment with the strike.
Good luck

Bonnet not openning 1995 Dodge caravan

you need to take a coat hanger & bend it to fit in the front of the car & pull the latch. I know it's vague but it needs to happen. Or,check to see if the cable broke at the inside latch release & grab the end with a vise grip & pull.

Bonnet latch will not open and bonnet is in closed position

the cable connecting the handle to the latch is broken. remove the front grille and access the latch assembly. you will be able to release by hand and then replace the cable.
