problem would seem to be in the running of engine ,when was it last serviced ,old plugs , air filter etc will affect engine idle speed which is why its stalling when dipping clutch
First of all it can be misaligned,or have miss one teeth of the belt if so the engine will never start, you are right the ticking noise came mainly from the valve, how long have you have adjusted the valve clearance ?I think you must check the valve adjustment before taking another step.Hope that clear your mind and will solve it.
\'93 Hyundai Lantra, automatic transmission has trouble changing up from 1st to 2nd, it tends to rev on a bit, clunks once or twice before changing to 2nd, other gears seem to be ok. Oil levels are ok and have recently replaced the transmission oil (yes the correct oil was used)
After some extensive research, it looks as though they have two totally different body styles as well as a few others. The differences are as follows:
Lantra: 1.5L
Elantra: 1.6L or 1.8L engine sizes
Lantra: 2,336 lbs
Elantra: 2,500lbs Weight
Lantra: 11.89 gal
Elantra: 13.7 gal fuel capacity
those are only three differences that i have put up among the many that i have found. Lantra's also seem to be one of those out of states type cars that you find in Australia mostly. The body is also totally different.
