Why did my air compressor stop working on my 2001 oldsmobile silhouette minivan air compressor stopped working

You probably blew a fuse or the relay switch has gone bad. But...this wouldn't happen unless the compressor was running for a long long period of time or it developed a short. I would guess that your air shocks have developed a leak in the air shock system and the compressor over heated trying to keep the shocks inflated.

Check your fuses first...if no burnt fuse is found...move to the relay...and check it....if you get the compressor to run again....monitor it with the car running and in park...the compressor should automatically start up at start up of your will hear it buzzing away...wait to see if it stops running after about 3-4 minutes....that is plenty of time for it to pump up the shocks to a driveable pressure. It it stops....keep listening for it to start back up within the next few minutes...if it does...have your shocks checked out by a mechanic for leaks... If it never turns off the first time you hear it start.....after 5-6 minutes of run time and no the fuse and take it in to a mechanic to have the rear shocks checked for leaks. If it shuts off after 3-4 minutes on the first run....and dosen't come back on within the next 6-10 may be lucky and only blew the fuse because it was a weak fuse to begin with. If it just stops working again after that... you have a short in your electrical wiring that feeds the compressor...or the compressor may be on it's last leg...either way...take it to a mechanis to repair the short or replace the compressor. be safe and good luck.

SOURCE: Olds silhouette heater blows cold air

as long as the engine temperature is normal, i would suspect a clogged heater core, the dex-cool antifreeze is notorious for building up deposits in cooling system. have heater core flushed first to see if it makes any difference

SOURCE: 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette ABS Light is on and

The first thing i would check is all 4 abs sensors at the wheels. You can do this with a volt meter set on ac voltage and spin the wheel if it generates voltage at all on the meter its good.

SOURCE: my 2001 oldsmobile silhouette keeps over heating.

I have and 98 Intrepid 3800 motor, and had same problem.

I tried a few things, but what finally worked was when I took the car for a complete cooling system flush, they opened the radiator and cleaned every single passage line, flushed motor and heater core,

It cost me about $100 but I havent had a problem since. I recommend you do the same.

There is a screw on the thermostat housing that is used to purge the air out of the cooling system. On your owner's manual are detailed instruccions of this procedure.

SOURCE: My friends Craftsman air compressor stopped running

The compressor in question is basically a throw away.
My personal opinion is it's more trouble then it's worth.
Even after it's fixed you still have a throw away compressor.
However it is possible to repair it if the parts are still available.
Check out the link below for parts and diagrams for the compressor in question.

Hope this helps and good luck.

2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette Premiere - windows fog off and on inside.

Could be a blend door problem. You would need fresh air from the outside to keep the windows from fogging up. If the blend door that controls outside air gets stuck or fails to open, you may not get fresh air. The ac compressor would also need to run every few minutes to dry the air hitting the windshield.

My horn stopped working on my 2001 oldsmobile silhouette. It made a funny noise before it went out. We changed the relay but that didn't do the trick. Any ideas?

The horn itself is dead , that funny noise was it's last breath. You can get a horn from an auto wrecker for just about nothing. It does not necesarilly have to be from the same vehicle , as long as it fits.

I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette and the front Air Vents do not blow out anything at all. There is no A/C heat or defrost. Would a low compressor cause this? The rear vents are blowing out air as...

The blower motor is either bad, or if you hear it blowing in the front but nothing comes out of the vents, then it's a vacuum motor problem. The flaps aren't angled right to allow air to come out of the vents (either for a/c, heat, or defrost).

My 98 olsd minivan 3.4 overheats in first 15 min

Air is possibly getting into the system and from what I can tell you should replace the radiator cap. The pressure valve may be bad. Road test the car after you replace the cap and top off the system.

Silhouette load levelling compressor keeps coming on

you can pull the fuses, but it is hard wired so it might have relays that need to be pulled, or you can just fix it, and replace the air shocks/struts with regular shocks/struts

1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette. After driving more than 50 miles the a/c stops blowing. When it does work it is cold

The system may need to be recharged, All A/C system will have small leaks though the seals and when you lose enough R134 the system will stop blowing cold air. I am guessing that it stop working now as to that there is no cold air but the blower fan is still working right?? Or do you mean that there is cold air and then it stops making cold air after 50 miles but will work again after a few hours of the can not running. If that's the case, the A/C relay may be bad and when it heats up the relay fails and needs to be replaced. Good luck and keep me posted.

I have a 2001 Silouette and everytime I start it up it makes a noise like a some kind of pump. Then once it is started it does it for a few minutes then it stops. It only does this when I start it up only.

don't know if this is the solution or not. was told that it is an on board air compressor. is noise in the rear of the vehicle? could be for the suspension or shocks maybe?? worth looking in that direction.
