SOURCE: Replace starter on 1992 GMC Sierra pickup truck
First thing unhook positive battery cable, unhook main cable on starter selanoid and small wire on selanoid (there may be 2 small wires) There may be a bracket on front of starter that has to be removed, and then the 2 main bolts that hold it to engine block and it should come out.

definitely could be something smaller. Like a relay....even a filter.
Few things to try:
Just turn the key to on, not start and see if you listening to the fuel tank if you can hear the pump going. If not, its either the pump or the relay.
Most of these trucks have another switch that kicks in after the enigine is started and runs the pump so you may be able to spray starting fluid in it while cranking it and get it to start. Then the other switch may kick in and run it. that will let you know if its the relay or what. Let me know what you find. I just replaced a relay on a 93 and it was only $8.....worth a try. Also, there will be a fuel pump fuse, probably close to the relay, could be that!

thats too vague of a question. you will need a qualified shop to check it over and recommend proper repairs. one of the ECM sensors could be bad, tps or ect (throttle sensor or temp sensor)

look for a serious exhaust or intake leak. look for bad wires to the o2 sensor or map sensor. just for starters.
