To tow long distances you have to remove the tail shaft. Next to tow long distances safely you will need an "A" frame hitch attached to the front of the car onto a tow ball of the towing vehicle To be honest the cost of towing the vehicle ( fuel costs ,tyres , rigging for tail lights and brake lights --legal requirements, towing capacity of the towing vehicle- will not make it a practical solution. Consider having a car transport do the job as it will be cheaper in the long run with no vehicle and legal requirements.

SOURCE: 2003 Mercedes C180 Compressor AUTO BOX transmission oil check

The transmission fluid is not to be checked or touched unless there is a malfunction in the system and the fluid has to be drained to repair it. The transmission is sealed form the factory and the fluid lasts the lifetime of the unit.

We have a heavy duty tow bar so what is the towing capacity

https://www.uhaul.com/Frequentlyaskedquestions/202/Trailertowing-Rentals

How do I find my hitch system rating? Your hitch system is comprised of three components, the Hitch that is attached to the frame of your car, the Ball Mount (drawbar) and the Hitch Ball. Each component has a rating for capacity. The LOWEST rating of the three components determines the overall rating of your complete hitch system. For instance, you can have a 3500 lb hitch and ball mount, with a 2000 lb ball. Your hitch system is limited to the 2000 lbs towing capacity. https://www.uhaul.com/Articles/Tips/33/How-To-Determine-Your-Hitch-System-Rating

What the difference between jeeps with and with out a hitch

no drive line options stated, what engine and trans?
the cars data sheet covers all that. 2011?
i dont know what towing option they had in 2011.
just hitch or other things,
mostly capacity is a function of car weight and power and transmissions ability not not overload or over heat.
up to 5000 lbs, as it says , adequately equipped,(drive train)
type of hitch and tires,
all are factors.
why not ask jeep this, they look and see what you have
then ask you what you want to tow.
see>?
quote:
With the available towing package, the Liberty is capable of pulling a load up to 5,000 pounds.

youd need top ask jeep that, for a 2011.
after all they designed it and sold it.
and brake good enough to stop car + 5000 pound
so..... at the least, not to mention speeds, or altitudes and side wind effects.

The Jeep Liberty's towing capacity without the towing package is 2000 pounds. With the towing package, it's 3500 pounds. With the towing package and a weight distribution hitch, it's 5000 pounds. You will get down the road hauling 5000 pounds (don't try to go over any mountain passes), but your engine and transmission will pay the price. Mostly what the towing package gives you is an upgraded engine and transmission cooling system.

again why not ask jeep this, go there and ask them , Sr.
how do I get to 5000lbs safe, its their car, and there design.

ever go down a hill fast with 5000 lbs behind this small car?
? it wont be fun.
5000 lbs pushing 4000lbs.
the car is a victim , of these powerful forces.

How often should the transmission be dropped? The dealer says the c servive is every 35000 miles and my garage says every 100000 so i dont want to do it unless it needs it.

you dont have to "drop" the transmission, just change the fluid and filter every 36000 miles. Whatever is costs, it costs. Are you going to listen to some guy in a garage, or the manufacturer of the car? Is the guy in the garage going to help you pay the bill when there are transmission problems? why take a chance?

On a 2006 ML350, is it necessary to get the transmission service (new filter) after 48K miles??

yes Mercedes changed the transmission service interval to 40k miles but then after that you don't have to service the transmission until you reach 140k miles. It is a good idea to the transmission serviced at this mileage especially for warranty purposes. There was a lot of issues with the new 722.9 transmission when it first came out. Which is one of the reasons Mercedes moved up the transmission service from 100k miles to 40k miles for the first time it needs to be serviced anyways. Plus if the transmission happens to need repairing the first thing the dealership will look for is to see if the trans service had been done at 40k miles before doing any kind of warranty work on the vehicle. As a former Mercedes Benz Tech at the dealership I would say yes it is necessary to get the trans serviced.
