Keyless ignition and clock display etc not working

My husband changed the radio and something pinged when testing the voltage with the meter. We can start the engine with the key but not keyless and the doors do not lock. No dash lights apart from the power steering symbol comes on and the clock, temperature, Km display no longer works? Any ideas

SOURCE: remote key fob does not unlock or lock car

It may just be a battery problem. Replace the battery of your remote fob. If it will not work, try to reposition the controller beneath the dashboard.

SOURCE: can't find the fuse box under the driver's side dash on my 2000 suzuki grand vitara. my radio/clock not working and dome light does not come on when the driver's side door is opened.

Its below the Dashboard, on the left side of your knee. You have to use a torch & locate it from under the Dashboard, Its roughly near to the Clutch Pedal.
Here, it looks like this: (The Black one is the Fuse box) ba18901.jpg

SOURCE: 2006 grand vitara - steering wheel locked - ignition wont turn

It sounds like sticking lock tumblers since beating on it seems to make it work once in awhile. No other items in the column will die out and work again upon pounding on it

2000 Ford Excursion radio will not shut off with key in hand

The fuses are for base radio system. With key out, check the two outside fuse circuits for voltage. Shouldn't be any voltage, if there is, have to check ignition switch wiring circuits. Use a test lite to check for voltage
The fuse in the middle, hot all the time, should be for radio memory and clock where applicable.

2001 gmc jimmy clock stays on after door is opened and dies out battery, what could be wrong?

No other lights on ,dome, courtesy etc...
Battery Rundown Protection/Inadvertent Power
In the event that any of the interior lamps supplied voltage by the inadvertent power relay and ground from the courtesy lamp relay were to remain on when the ignition is OFF after a period of 20 minutes, the BCM will deactivate the inadvertent power relay turning OFF all of the lamps on that circuit to prevent total battery discharge. Only when the ignition switch is cycled back to the RUN position will the BCM reset the internal timer and reactivate the inadvertent power relay. When the inadvertent power relay is not energized, the BCM utilizes the inadvertent power courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit to monitor for a courtesy lamp switch request signal. If a courtesy lamp switch is activated, the BCM will receive the signal to energize the inadvertent power relay by grounding the control circuit.

No power unless key is in ignition.

Take it to a store that installs remote starters and stereo amps.

Hi there lm trying to work out which fuse is for the radio and the light behind the clock

one way would be to remove and replace fuses and see which one causes the radio to lose power.
if no radio connected then connect a voltage test meter to the connecion and test.

Note~ some radios have an anti theft device fitted which activates if the radio loses power.
be sure you have your security code available to gain access once the radio gains power again.

I hope this was useful

94 grand cherokee baterry goes dead after sitting 5 days starter clicks and flashers flash. recharged battery will last another 5 days,

battery could be at fault or there is a draw in system that pulls down battery
have battery tested and leave it disconected for a few days then reconect to see if vehicle starts
if it does battery should be o.k. next is there any thing that stayes on (aftermarket stuff)
that may cause a draw on system if thats ok need to performed parasetic draw on system
hook up voltage meter between positive cable and meter
on 20 volt schale put red wire of meter to battery positive post black wire to red wire that was hook to battery voltaged should be minimal only to keep computers alive (clock - radio preset-etc etc)
if draw is high start removing fuses in system one at a time and check the voltage meter until it drops
you have now located the faulty cicuit that that fuse feeds start looking in those area
also feel starter selenoid and alternator at rear to see if they feel warm thet could be partly switch on
killing the battery over time
good luck

Which three fuse's did you replace ? You should check for B+ voltage on both side's of the fuse . Two little metal tabs on top of the fuse. Voltage on both , fuse is good .
Try radio self-diagnostic mode .
A fluctuating AC voltage audio signal is sent to the speakers directly from the audio unit to reproduce sound. The audio unit has a self-diagnostic mode that can be entered by pressing preset buttons 3 and 6 simultaneously.

  1. If the concern is visually evident, GO to Symptom Chart .
  1. If the concern is not visually evident, proceed to the Speaker Walk-Around Test and the Audio Unit Self-Diagnostic Mode.

Speaker Walk-Around Test (Except Premium CD6)
NOTE: To enter the speaker walk-around test or audio unit self-diagnostic mode, the audio unit must be turned on and in the radio tuner mode (AM/FM).
  1. To enter the speaker walk-around test, simultaneously press the audio unit preset buttons 3 and 6.
  1. The speaker walk-around test stops at each speaker and applies sound to each speaker for about 1-2 seconds. Each speaker is tested and displayed on the audio unit in the following sequence: RF, LF, LR, RR and SUBWOOFER.
  1. To exit the speaker walk-around test, turn the ignition switch off, turn the audio unit off, or press preset button 1 for diagnostics (DIA).

Audio Unit Self-Diagnostic Mode (Except Premium CD6)
NOTE: To enter the speaker walk-around test or audio unit self-diagnostic mode, the audio unit must be turned on and in radio tuner mode (AM/FM).
  1. To enter the following tests, press the desired preset button while in the speaker walk-around test or while in the audio unit self-diagnostic mode.
  1. To exit the audio unit self-diagnostic mode, turn the ignition switch or the audio unit off.
  1. If the concern remains and the fault is not detected, GO to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
  1. The self-diagnostic mode has 6 manual tests available:
    • Preset button 1 = ENTER DIAGNOSTICS. This test enters diagnostics from the speaker walk-around test. Metrics are available with SEL and ON buttons indicating time played in AM/FM, media, number of buttons pressed, etc.
    • Preset button 2 = EEPROM BLOCK STATUS. This test shows the validity of memory to calibrate the clock, and seek sensitivity.
    • Preset button 3 = EXIT DIAGNOSTICS.
    • Preset button 4 = Software configuration level. This test queries each radio system controller for its software configuration level.
    • Preset button 5 = DISPLAY TEST. This test lights all the display segments for five seconds and then turns all segments off.
    • Preset button 6 = RAM CONTENTS READOUT. To enter these tests, press preset button 1 while in the speaker walk-around test, then the desired preset button.
  1. To exit the self-diagnostic mode, turn the audio unit or the ignition switch off.
