I bought a 13 year old mercedes and left the lights on all night and ran the battery dead. After it was started the radio would not work without a code. I called mercedes but they did not have a code for that vin number which she said must have had the radio replaced. If it was, it is still a factory radio just like the photo in the book with mercedes Benz written on it and it fits perfect. My handbook did not have instructions on how to remove and i need to get the serial number to get the code. Can you please tell me how to remove it properly?

If you call your merc dealer they should give it to you on the phone, if not have a look at this web site, if not, then if you take out the unit and let me know the s/no: i will see i have it.

the radio should pull right out. use 2 picks to grab the sides and pull gently.

First thing is to understand you will most likely have to run all new speaker wire as the head unit in your car has everything external to the head unit (power amplifier, fader). The plastic around shifter pulls up off, then remove wood surround. Remove ashtray, pull face off head unit usually by sticking fingers in cassette area and pull. There will be plastic tabs on the bottom of unit push in and pull out on head unit, pull slowly so you can inspect wires for placement. Again rerunning speaker wire should be done to preclude external amps and fader switch and power antenna if yours still works.
