Intermediate steering shaft has play. It needs to be replaced. This is very common.

The steering shaft that goes thru the firewall into the engine bay needs replaced and there is also a bearing that goes around the steering shaft at the bottom near the gas and brake pedal that needs replaced also. I got the parts off Ebay and watched a video on Youtube and just recently replaced mine and the noise went away. It could be one part or the other but I replaced both so I wouldn't have to go back and fix it again as some have said they replaced one then the noise was still there or came back.

Knocking noise

Wow this one's tough without being there...it could be either one that you mentioned, does it make the sound when driving or setting still. If it sounds like it's up high like in the dash, maybe a bearing that supports the steering column. Best thing would be to get it up on a lift and turn the steering wheel and look for the sound under the car to see where it's coming from..could be the rack teeth but most likely a bearing...good luck hunting

Rubbing noise in steering column

Omg worn out rotors will not make your steering wheel make rubbing noises. Some ppl should just read and not write. There is a rubber boot that your steering shaft goes through on the fire wall .sometimes it dries out .if you lube it with silicone paste .not petroleum based.it might help.do it from inside the car.under dash .or it might be clock spring .or rotary coupler in steering wheel. You might just try to lube .the hen if it don't work take to dealer.if it don't help.

1999 chevy lumina parking lights flashing and strange clicking noise coming from the dash near the steering column even when the car is turned off and the key is removed from the ignition. How do I stop...

Sounds like you turned on your emergency flashers somehow without knowing it. The button should be on your steering column. Otherwise, find the flasher control under the dash by following the clicking noise and unplug it. Then go buy a new flasher control.

2004 malibu classic turn signals work properly when off still make clicking noise

Your turn signal flasher unit must be bad. Never heard of this. The flasher is under the dash. Just follow the clicking sound till you find it, probably up under dash around the steering column. Replace it and you should be good.

My car sounds like knocking noise under the steerin column they dealer claim they changed the steering column but i still hear that noise what is it

It could just be some small amount of bearing play in the steering column. You could bring it to another shop for a second oppinion or take a look at it yourself. If you choose to do it then ask another person to help. With the steering unlocked and the engine of. Have that person rock the steering wheel back and forth until you can hear that noise. Take a look under the hood and try to locate the source. You may want to put your hand on different parts to feel for the sound. !be careful not to put your hand somewhere where it could get pinched or hurt! Let me know how you made out.
