If your "Check Engine" light is lit, please have someone get the error codes from your Toyota's computer with an OBDII scan tool.
Thank you for the advice but there are no lights on...thought it might be the fuel filter or the catalytic converter, but before checking into that, thought I would see if anyone else has had this problem and/any solutions
Hmmm... no codes, but it's still short on power. Does it roll freely if you let it coast in neutral? Your park brake isn't set, is it? It's POSSIBLE that the catalytic is plugged - if it is, it make the exhaust sound kind of like a passenger jet as you accelerate - you might have someone drive along beside you & listen with their window open. The fuel filter shouldn't do that unless it's really badly clogged, and would probably throw a code. You might check your fuel pump pressure & flow rate - there's a port on the fuel rail (top of engine) where you can check that.
