The cam-belt failed at low revs, the car shut down and now I have replaced the belt with a new one. I have aligned the top mark and the bottom spot on the crank. the motor only turns left and right and gets stuck. have turned the cam 180 degrees but sill the same thing. Could it be that I am using the the wrong guiding points ?

dear friend-if your mark at the bottom is on TDC then that is fine, there is a 8mm hole in the top sprocket.alighn the hole with the mark on the cylinderhead, put belt on and tention turn ones around and lighn up marks.re-assemble.

Hi, the cam shaft has a hole on the hub that should be at approximately 12o'clock a red mark should be visible through the hole. the cramk shaft sprocket has a marking to align with the mark along the case, the keyway should be at about 3o'clock. be sure you at TDC on cylinder 1.
You need to get the car repair manual if you want to see the diagram or call auto zone...

We do not have this model in the USA so I am giving you the 1.6 engine diagram we have here, not sure it is correct.
