Have a 2003 land rover discovery have service light code p1451 how can I fix it have to pass emissions ? Please help try to reset but as soon as I reset the code comes back and service light goes back on same code only that code.
Four digit codes are brand specific. For a Range Rover product, code 1451 involves the canister purge or vent circuit. This is the system that the computer uses to vent gas tank fumes to the vapor canister. You will need to research this in depth for Range Rover models to get the test procedures. The warning light will stay on until the problem is fixed.
Testimonial: "Is it the same for the discovery as it if for the range rover?"
I replace the purge valve and reset code light came back on same code
Yes all Range Rover models should use the same code numbers. If you replace a component and the code comes back, the wiring and other factors must be checked. Trouble codes do not tell you what to replace, only what to check.
For example, if the computer commands a valve to open but does not get the expected result, it sets a code for that circuit but has no way of knowing if the valve opened or not. A rubber hose could be damaged, or the wiring to the valve could be open, etc.
Ok thank you for the information
