My 2005 Envoy Denali will not go into gear. The gear shift moves, but it doesn't go into gear. What is the problem?

Check all your fuses espec. the mbec1 50amp fuse in the underhood box. Other than bad fuses it sounds like you may have a problem with your ignition switch. it would help if you could get a scanner on the computer system to see what all the modules are doing.

If it's a no crank condition, put your foot on the brake, shirt the gear selector to neutral and see if the engine will start. If it starts in neutral, you might have a faulty neutral safety switch which is located on the transmission. Very easy to change, but don't remove the steel alignment tool until you have it bolted to the transmission, Good luck, Gary

YOU HAVE TO REMOVE REAR STEERING GEAR CROSS MEMBER.REMOVE THE WIRE HARNESS FROM THE WIRE HARNESS RETAINING CLIPS ON THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE BRACKET.REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE BRACKET BOLT.REMOVE RIGHT TRANSMISSION COVER BOLT.THEN REMOVE STARTER BOLTS THEN REMOVE STARTER.

either the transmission bands need to be adjusted or the solenoid is bad and needs to be replaced. The first thing would be to change tranny fluid and filter.
