dig out the 'something' and check your fuses, it probably popped the lighter fuse and one of the pcm fuses

Does the engine turn over at least? The gauges getting crazy points to a PCI data bus problem, then also the engine will crank, but not start. Could be one of the components connected to the bus. Also common is water ingress in a large connector on passenger side bulkhead, which causes the data bus to short out..

battery terminals dirty (no maintenance on car?)
start at the head lights. they are hot all the time.
if the head lights fail , fix that first. (easier).
not sure what crazy means.

and 1st is to check all fuses, in cab and under hood.

Sounds like a bad battery cable or connection somewhere.

If you know the battery is good, then it's likely you have a loose battery connection. If not loose, could be corrosion built up under connection. If battery terminals are tight and clean, then look closely at the ground connection. Same thing hidden corrosion or loose connection or combination. What happens is, all seems normal untill you demand a heavy load, (starter) then the poor connectionn you had fails and symtoms resemble a dead or very low battery. Ofcourse it could be a low battery. Which could be from bad alternator / charger. Jump start it with cables, take to auto parts store and have them test the battery and charger. They should be able to do it right in the vehicle and for free or minimal cost. Good luck.

You better get this checked out by a mechanic. This computer problem could cost a lot of money if not repaired ASAP

THE IGNITION SWITCH IS THE PROBLEM. IT'S NOT A SECURITY ISSUE.

Have the alternator checked.
