There 2 issues, here.
first all dizzy get hot , 180F is the engine temp and the dizzy
will get near that temp. its unavoidable. that fact.
or worse parked and hot soaked,

the ignitor is bad.
a rebuilt dizzy from CARDONE , is about 1/2 the price of the internal bad parts. (VR sensor and ignitor)

need a link to the part?
you get to find out early or late
see ignition choice.
http://www.cardone.com/find-parts/vehicle-parts-listing?make=Suzuki%20Trucks&model=Samurai&year=1988

allstores in usa can get this part., all.
if not , avoid them. like zoned. avoid.

i think rockauto.com sell em. but that takes time.

1988 sukuki quits going down road will not start starts when set over night

Check the small wires coming off the altenater. Once the engine starts, the car get's power from the altenater. These wires are bad about breaking into, (on all vehicles) but the insulation stays unbroken. The wire makes contact enough to run, but the feul pump gets hot and shuts down. Or the wire looses contact and shorts out. check the wires for a limp, week section and splice where broken.

Suzuki samurai starter problems

You are not specific as to what is happening, but most people have the "click-click" problem. If that is it.....it means not enough power getting to the starter solenoid. You can get lucky by removing the wires from the clutch pedal switch and splice them around it to remove the switch resistance. If that does'nt do it completely, you need to get a relay kit from one of the many Samurai suppliers

My '87 samurai sputters badly when i give it throttle.

Try changing the fuel filter. If it is running ok at lower speeds around 50kmh/30mph I would say fuel supply is the problem.
Hope this helps.

My 86 sami lack speed and power

The samurai tranny shifter's wear down and the shift pin tends to break cause slop in the shifter and making it harder to get into 5th gear.

When 87 suzuki stops it dies, hesitation when starting

I've never seen a samurai without a PCV valve hooked up. You sure its just missing it cuase that is what releases the pressure build up in the engine. If not working/installed then you're gonna get piston blow by, oil burning, and a rough running engine.

Suzuki samurai

Look at the timing belt and make sure it is on and tight. Then maybe pull the distributor and make sure it isn't bad
