How to fix window cable for up & down - Silverado 1500 Chevrolet Cars & Trucks

Window regulator . cable is broke stuck in plastic roller .

It is worth fixing & the only solution

Remove the door panel,see the problem &
replace the broken window regulator

No one wants your car with a broken window mech

You can't fix that, you must replace the whole unit which is called the window regulator assembly

Window glass has channels on the sides
but no tracks

When ever a window falls, it is because the window
regulator broke

That could be a metal piece or the more popular metal
& cable assy

Obviously you have to remove the inner door panel to
check out the problem & then get the worn parts at a dealer
or maybe the auto parts store,but not likely

Window regulator or cable, depending on what you have

You remove the inner door panel to gain access to what
broke

Wether you can fix it, depends on your own skills

Not fun ,but I would never recommend anyone but you
doing it

Not the job repair shops like & in most cases only put
broken parts back on & 4 days later it falls down again

Don't know why they have always done that, rather the just
fixing it the first time

Remove the inner door panel & replace the broken
window regulator cable

The windows are controlled by electric window regulators. They are cable regulators with electric motors. They average in price around $100, new.
If your window is up, don't put it down until you have the regulator replaced. Otherwise you may end up stuck with the window in the down position and no way to get it up.

The window regulator is serviced as an assembly...no replacement cable.
