03 Dodge Ram 1500, P0307 code, check engine light

03 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7ltr, P0307 code, check engine light comes and goes, i know it's a misfire on the #7, tried a new coil pack, new plugs a few months back and the light is back on and the code still comes up with the key cycle. What's the next thing to look at? Truck is a little sluggish I guess. I would like to fix this issue once and for all prior to making a decision on buying a chip.

I have a 97 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5/9 in it I put plug wires on it and now it's popping and it lost power and it had a code po302 and Po 307

The P0302 code means that the cylinder 2 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks and if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 2. If the problem persist more tests needs to be done. PO307 is the same thing except number 7 cylinder. Possible symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/loss of power
- Hard start
- Engine hesitation

Random Misfire

This can be due to a leaking pressure regulator and or the injector lines leaking. These are located under the plenum, which has the throttle body mounted in the center.

When runing engine has missfire on #1 and#7 cly At ilder or highway speed some time it run with no probem but back fire throw intake and set codes.

DTC P0301 & P0307 Code - Cylinder #1 & #7 Misfire Detected
A P0301 (also P0307) code means that the the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #1 (also cyl #7).

Symptoms may include the engine may be harder to start, the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate or other symptoms may also be present. Other tips to solve it in the previous fault code link.

A code P0301 and P0307 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plug or wire
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Running out of fuel
Poor compression
Defective computer

Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

My 2001 dodge durango's check engine light is on. I got the code p0307 to come up. the car is running fine, what does the code mean?

it is cylinder #7 misfire, it could be injector, coil, plugs, or wire on that cylinder. to check it out. just switch the wire etc, with a good one, and see if it takes care of problem.

Vehicle check engine light is on error code is p0307

This code indicates that there is a misfire condition being detected on the #7 cylinder. That would be the rear cylinder on thr driver's side of the engine.

I had a similar problem with my Dodge truck.I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs and wires and the check engine light went out. Within 4 days the light came back on with codes for multiple misfires..To make a long story short, I put electrical tape on the wires to adjacent cylinders and the problem was solved. Answer; The pluig wires they are making for Dodge are really cheap!
