The 1.8 is a J18 engine. On all Suzuki J engines, the crank position sensor is under the flywheel/flex plate. Yes, that will require pulling the engine or transmission. BUT the electrical connector to it is under the intake above the starter. So you can troubleshoot the system without pulling the motor. :) With this engine, the crank sensor is only used for miss-fire detection but will throw a code if bad.

Where is the IAC located on 1996 isuzu sidekick

The IAC assembly, mounted on the right side of the throttle body, controls bypass air around the throttle plate. By extending or retracting a conical valve, a controlled amount of air can move around the throttle plate. If engine speed (rpm) is too low, more air is diverted around the throttle plate to increase engine speed.
During idle, the proper position of the IAC valve is calculated by the ECM based on battery voltage, coolant temperature, engine load and engine speed. If the engine speed drops below a specified rate with the throttle plate closed, the ECM will then calculate a new valve position.
On 1.6L engines, four different possible designs of the IAC conical valve may be used on these engines. The first design utilizes a single taper shape, while the second design uses a dual taper shape. The third design uses a blunt-tipped valve, whereas the fourth design uses a rotating shutter. Care should be taken to ensure use of the proper design when service replacement is necessary.,,,

How do you check throttle position sensor.on 1995 Suzuki sidekick..

Ohms meter. Don't remember the colours, but I believe yours is only three wires so it shouldn't be hard to find the resistance circuit.

I have a 1.8 1998 suzuki sport sidekick jlx. It failed emission testing. Replaced the mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, coils and spark plugs. The check engine light still comes on and it...

spark plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, or fuel pump might be getting ready to go. maybe a vacuum leak, hook it up to a vacuum gauge and see if the needle is steady, or take it to autozone and have them run a OBD test. I think its free at autozone.

Oil leak

Oil leak can be attributed to several factors.
1. Gasket failure.
2. Uncontrolled Crank case pressure Failure.

Tighten both the valve cover and oil pan bolts.
Replace the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve and vacuum line.,

This is a valve causes a negative vacuum on the engine while its running, As to say if it had a leak in a valve cover it should not be leaking while its running, only when the engine it turned off.

Hope this tip guides you in the correct direction to solve this problem.

Suzuki sidekick clutch problem

Check the cable clearance. Too much clearance will cause clutch slippage or total clutch disengagement. Adjust the cable so that the clutch pedal will be hard to press by hand .5 to .75 inch from its initial point.

Hard starter escudo

Sounds like you have a cold start problem. With the engine check the oxygen sensor and check the temperature sensor. That might help to fix the problem. Also check all the spark plugs.
