Check the charging system and battery to make sure these are working properly. if the charging system is not working then the alternator will have to be check and possibly the PCM as the PCM controls charging voltage and the alternator continuously tries to run a max. check for a code in the PCM related to charging. this may help finding the problem.

SOURCE: I have alternator charging battery problems.

hello there:
you're problem may be in the alternator or the battery to find out you will need a volt meter and have the vehicle running to test the alternator set you volt meter to dc voltage and touch the positive side with the red lead and the negative side with the black lead you should show 14 to 14.5 volts if not replace the alternator then with car off using the volt meter and test the battery the same way you should get 12 to 13 volts then wit the volt meter still hooked up to the battery with the help from someone try to start the car and see if the voltage drops below 10 volts if so the battery might be shot....hope this is helpful best regards D.Jones p.s please leave a review thanks

Can the car alarm cause the battery in my chrysler cirrus to lose charge

if the head lights continue to flash of course the battery will go flat. every time the head lights flash there is 65 watts of power coming out of the battery. Have the alarm modulator checked out as it should only flash once or twice to indicate that the alarm is activated.

Changed battery on 1999 chrysler concorde and it will not charge or start

It would have to be running for the alternator to charge the battery.
Did you check all of the fuses and the connections on the alternator with a meter ?

05 Chrysler Pacifica engine bucking , engine light comes on, battery light comes on. But battery is fully charged and alternator is working. When the battery comes out, it seems like the computer re

The Battery CCA Rating is to turn over the starter

CCA--Cold Cranking Amps
That is at zero degrees
Total cranking amps is at 32 degrees

The car runs off the alternator
It puts out over 14 volts

The 12 volt battery is 6 cells @1.2 v each = 13.2 v

You need 12.6 volts to test a car or you charge it first

You need over 13 volts to charge a battery, thus the alternator

The only other job the battery has is a stabilizer in the electrical
circuit

So you need to have the charging system diagnosed as the
various light you have on should be off when engine first starts

2003 Chrysler Town & Country, put in new alternator, now have 2 lights on including battery and one looking like a pump. Radio won't work.

Hello
The reason the battery light is on is that the charging system voltage is below the battery voltage, this means the charging system is not working correctly, since you already replaced the Alternator for I assume the same problem, unless you got a defective rebuilt (which is poss if bought from Autozone or one of the other discount parts stores) the charging system problem is not the Alternator but lies elsewhere in the electrical system. Use a volt meter and check the voltage at the battery cables with the engine running at high idle (at least 1000 RPM) the voltage should be at least 13.4 to about 14.2 Volts DC. This is also most likely the cause of the light that is on that you say looks like a pump due to the low charging system voltage. As to the radio it is in theft lock, this happens anytime the battery is disconnected, you will need to enter the unique security code for your radio, if you are not the original owner this may be a problem, as the little card with the code and the instructions to enter it often gets misplaced. You will likely end up at the dealer who can access the Chrysler factory computer and retrieve the code, there may be a charge for this.

Battery not charging - have had alternator and battery checked and both are good. suspect regulator in computer, but do not know how to verify this

Nope , voltage regulator is inside alternator.
Does your charge light come on , if not , I suspect a broken ground wire or strap at the alternator.
No ground = no charge and no warning light.

Battery light

1st thing to check would be the alternator, to make sure it's charging the battery. If it's not, the red battery light would come on. Most major parts stores offer free battery and charging system checks, they can tell you if the alternator is not charging. Have it checked asap, as the new battery will be dead soon if it's not being charged. countrycurt0
