SOURCE: 1991 Corsica with 3.1 wil not start has spark
Is this 40lbs. at the pump or after the fuel filter? If at the pump, the fuel filter may be blocked. Change it if necessary. Good luck!

Hello Bridget.
Yes there are ways to check to verify.
Often on the Corsica the "coil pack" as it was described is the issue. However there are a few other items that also fail.
The "coil pack" actually consists of separate components. The ignition module below the coils and the coils themselves.
But as you are aware, and rightfully so, are hesitant to start throwing parts at it.
Power and grounds to the module are basic checks. First on the list.
Secondly a computer scan on datastream to see if there is a RPM reading from the crankshaft sensor.
If not then a manual scope test on the crank sensor to verify as the module can interfere with the signal to the ECM as well.
I have also replaced a few ECM's on these cars.
The most likely cause will be the crank sensor or the ignition module.
Your mechanics from your description may not be up on technology, Guessing hardly builds confidence. I may suggest getting someone who knows what they are doing to repair your car in the future.
Hope this helps you towards a repair.
Thank you for using FixYa.
