Check your transmission it seems to me that your transmission sensor is bad, this sensor is the one that goes from 1st to 2nd shift, but you might wanna take it to a transmission shop to replace this sensor good luck!!!

SOURCE: 2001 Ford Taurus low Idle at stop lights

I would make sure all connections on your filter housing is tight..Make sure theres nothing disconnected far as vacuum lines..If you have had your oil changed lately,,check the two lines that hook right where the air filter is..The jiffy lube places,,love to leave them off..If all is good i would suspect the idle air control valve

SOURCE: Ford Taurus runs great till it warms up then shuts off and won't restart this is a 1995 taurus

A mechanic would check for voltage at the coil and the ignition module next.
Any trouble codes stored in the ECM ?

SOURCE: truk is real sluggish and seems like it takes a minute for the truk to catch up with the motor

If you mean the engine speeds up, but the vehicle doesn't speed up straight away, sounds like your clutch is slipping (manual transmission). If it's an auto, bands in the auto box slipping or low transmission fluid. Hope that helps?

I just put new ac clutch in2006 Taurus and is working great but car running sluggish almost stop running when at a light or stop sign why

The original a/c clutch was probably burned up by the compressor locking up. Possible bad compressor.

2001 FORD TAURUS IDLES BAD

i recently had this issue with my 2001 taurus dohc engine. when you drive it seems that everything is fine. when you stop, the car will idle very low and somethimes shut off. there is a hose under the throttle body that is attached to the pcv valve. over time, this hose will collapse and eign to tear. i replace that hose (autozone for $10) and it solved my idling problem.

Ford taurus 2001 car start but once the car is cut off it won't start up again until it cools off the car is not running hot.

After you kill it, when you try to start it back up, does the starter turn the motor? Or is it froze up (will not turn over)?

Replaced motor 01 taurus 3.0 run great but kicked up p1309 after attempting to correct misses real bad got #1 up and used tool to install but dont know if maybe 180 out or other problem replaced sensor but...

does your scanner that read the engine code give you any live data? if so look at the fuel trims, if it shows positive fuel trims on one bank and negative fuel trims on the other then your synchronizer is 180 out ouf time.

My 2001 Ford Taurus' cruise control stopped working (used to have lights that would eluminate and now they don't) Is this a fuse problem, and if so, which fuse should I be looking at? What else...

Sometimes it is hard to tell, but it does sound like a fuse problem and possibly a short that is blowing the fuse prematurely. Check all cigarette lighter style DC access points to make sure they are clear of pennies, debris, etc. If the problem continues, you have a real issue on your hands. Electrical problems can be a real headache. It could be a sensor issue as well. Run a diagnostic test at your local Autozone and see what codes come up.
