I have a 1997 corolla and it will start sometimes. It will crank but not run..
I'd suggest you should turn on the ignition, and listen carefully to hear if the fuel pump (located in the fuel tank) runs for a couple of seconds. Providing you hear it run, it should start. If it doesn't run, perhaps it is faulty, or its relay may be faulty.
I'm not sure offhand where the relay is located. You may hear it click in and out when you turn the ignition on and off.
The pump should run briefly to ensure the fuel pressure is up.
After you check for spark and fuel, check for broken timing belt.
