unless you want to blow up the intake stop giving it gas before you turn it over what you are doing is dangerous all you are doing is dumping raw unburned gas into the bottom of the intake to the motor, one of these times you go to start it it will do this boom really loud then die, it will lift the whole back end of the vehicle off the ground, then if you try to start it again okay I edited the answer also could be your catalytic convertor plugged is the exhaust coming out good, change the sensors whatever you do stop pumping the gas if it wont start now get in as you need silence so shut the door and the radio off can you hear the fuel pump? it will sound like a huum for a few seconds if you cant there is your problem all I can say is stop pumping the gas as that's why its running bad you are burning out the sensors and all the computer code stuff and wasting expensive gas too. you prolly fouled your plugs as well.

Usually happens when car is low on oil, happened to me because i foolishly kept putting off oil change.

If its running rough under 40 mph then take EGR Valve off and clean out carbon.If the EGR Valve is stuck in the open position it is allowing exhuast gasses into the intake manifold before it should.P.S you can use a nonchlronated brake cleaner on it!

These symptoms point me in 2 directions.

The first would be the gas filter. I came across the same problem this week on a 1996 Corolla. It would hesitate and sputter while pressing the throttle. The cause was a clogged gas filter.

The second area I would check would be the catalytic converter. If it is partially blocked it could cause these symptoms.

If there was a vacuum leak large enough to cause a problem you would be able to hear a hissing or whistling noise from the engine at idle.

Post back with any new info and hopefully we can pinpoint the trouble.

Check Engine light is on. Find out what DTC (diagnostic trouble code) is set and I can help you more. You can get a code puller from your local parts store.

sounds to me like your idle speed control sensor is going bad.

Start with IAC motor, TPS sensor, possible clogged catalytic converter.

Clean the inside of the MAF sensor with MAF spray, it is made by CRC corp, a MAF will in most cases not set an engine code which turns on the check engine light.

Ok you have a 4 cilynder engine, and you transmission is bad, and you are forcind the engine because you need more RPM that the normaly need it for certain speed, don't continue ussing you car like that because you will brake you engine too, and you will spend depend where do you live
