To much air getting in. Vacuum leak, slow operating throttle body, may need cleaning etc. Listed for an air leak under hood when it starts.

SOURCE: Valve knocks when running reaches 1500 rpm

First, nothing you have done has anything to do with valve tappet noise. What is your oil pressure? Have you positively identified the noise as a lifter (tappet), OR COULD IT BE AN ENGINE BERARING OR WRISTPIN? Other than tearing it down and replacing lifters, rockers or pushrods or possibly even the cam, if oil pressure is good, change the oil and put a quart of Marvel oil in there. If that does not clear it up in a few days, you will have to go inside the engine. You likely have over 160k on that engine...consider using a replacement. Get an older tech to listen to it...it takes years to be able to differentiate between different component noises with any accuracy.
Personally, without hearing it myself, I'm betting it's a rod knock.

SOURCE: sounds like air escaping under the manifold

Sounds like a normal issue for this engine as long as the noise goes away after a short period. It is the idle air control valve working correctly.

SOURCE: jeep starts and idles perfect no acceleration,

Sounds like the catalytic converter or muffler are clogged. There isn't much exhaust at idle, but when you accelerate your exhaust volume increases, thus if your catalytic converter or muffler are clogged the restrict the exhaust escaping out thus causing an excess of back pressure which won't allow the engine to breathe normally.

SOURCE: Have no power on acceleration, backfires 4.0L Jeep

could it be your throttle sensor? If it is a carbureted engine, check the accelerator pump inside the carb.

2003 f/250 5.4 I've replaced the cat ,Mac,tps,IAC,fuel filter ,plugs ,and packs it iddles but when you push the accelerator it stalls spits & sputters

Check your mass air flow sensor and all vacuum hoses for leaks, your mass air flow sensor is located somewhere on the intake hose between the air filter box and manifold. Maybe loose wires maybe bad airflow sensor, could just be dirty, could even be timing advance or other sensors. Read codes from computer and go from there but likely something simple.

P2018 and p2017 are the codes for my 2008 jeep patriot but I'm not sure what the p2018 means, help please.

code p 2017 refers to intake manifold air control actuator position sensor/switch, bank 1 ---circuit high==== causes --wiring short to positive --intake manifold air control actuator position sensor /switch
code p 2018 refers to intake manifold air control actuator position sensor /switch, bank 1--circuit intermittent====causes --wiring---poor connection---intake man. air con. actuator sensor/ switch
almost the same but one is specific for the sensor and the other has options of wiring ,connections etc so before replacing the sensor/switch, I would suggest that the wiring and all connections are checked for corrosion and loose

Hi, my 2002 malibu hesitate and whistle when I accelerate. It only works fine under 20mph, but when it exceed, it whistles and hesitate on accelerating. On highway, it barely goes up to 60mph and when...

Whistle noise indicates a major vacuum leak. Maybe something loose in the intake system. Maybe a vacuum hose disconnected. Will explain lose of power also.

Motor races to 2500rpm when idling and stays there

You have a vaccum leak. Check all vaccum hoses and connections for hissing or leaks.

1999 Jeep Cherokee car - cuts out each time it is started. does not matter time of day or weather. It basically wants to stall and then all of a sudden it just excelerates to full blast. I have replaced...

There is a few things it 'may' be so these are some basic checks to do.Check all the wire connections at the dizzy, coil and alternator.Looseness and corrosion. Put a spanner on all the intake manifold nuts and bolts.A leak there will give you the start/stop symtoms. At the same time look carefully at all the hoses on the manifold and check for loose are hoses that are cracked. Bad fuel flow may also be a problem. The fuel filter is on the chassis rail back near the fuel tank.It is often overlooked. These are things you can check easily at home.Give them a try and I hope it helps you

Engine hesitating during acceleration

Ok, there are many issues here that you will need to inspect. I recommend changing the fuel filter and pump as well. this will fix the hesitation. the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets will need to be replaced as well. this will stop the backfiring.

I also recommend checking and running a teat on the PCV valve and inspect the PCV hose as well. it could have a leak or a small crack on it.

Check the air filter and change if needed. this will help with acceleration issues as well. Next, i would run a check on all plugs and the complete wire set as well. change if needed.

Inspect the injectors for leaks and lose wires. make sure they are in good condition. replace any injectors that isn't firing properly.

Ok, there are some sensors that you will need to check as well. i will list them below.

SENSOR CHECK LIST--

1. Check the O2 sensors for worn wires.
2. Check the MAFS(Mas Air Flow Sensors) Check for Damaged, Loose, or Faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor or Circuit.
3. Check the Air Cleaner Temperature Sensor. this sensor could be damaged ro have loose wires. check accordingly.
4. Check the Throttle Position Sensor. this device could be connected wrong or it may be faulty as well. replace if needed.

Be sure and inspect all the above and repair any problem spot you ruin across during your inspection.

Please rate and god bless:)

93 grand cherokee has a very rough idle what could be the problem

Also check the vaccum hose from the fuel pressure regulator to the intake manifold, it is right on top, to the front right of the valve cover where the fuel lines attach to the fuel rail, there is a small vaccum hose that runs from the regulator to the intake manifold, I have a 93 grand cherokee limited w/ 4.0L 6cyl, it was hard to start at times, wouldnt start at times without starting fluid spray and had your symptoms at idle, running rough like it wanted to stall like it was out of gas, I had various opinions ranging from fuel pump was bad to the fuel filter to the fuel presure regulator, the fuel pump relay ,etc....after replacing the relay and having the same symptoms, some digging brought me to this vaccum hose, wich had a break in it, when it was replaced it allowed the regulator to have the correct fuel pressure output and solved all the afforementioned problems way cheaper than the suggested alternitives. good luck.

Air

Some of these systems are controlled by vacuum. May want to start looking for a vacuum leak somewhere. Some mechanics spray starting fluid near the vacuum lines to test for leaks.
