SOURCE: ECM I fuse keeps blowing

For the ECM 1 fuse to open you obviously have a short to ground , start with the injector disconnected and see if ECM 1 fuse still blows. If it does disconnect crank sensor, also inspect wires for the injectors or any rub through wires here is a diagram cansmo_178.gif

SOURCE: Why does my 1990 suburban keep randomly blowing

Scroll up and LISTEN to the guy talking about a SHORT. That's what it is. Take off the air cleaner assembly. Lift all the wires up and off the engine, pull the big wire loom a half inch out of the hole it disappears in going through the firewall. Keep doing this until the fuse stops blowing. Took me ten seconds. I still don;t know which wire it is, but I am buying some rubber fuel line and/or wiring loom protector to insulate everything off the valve covers, etc. Be sure to pick up extra 15 amp fuses in case it happens again, and be ready to tell anyone who drives the thing what to do.

Case: 1990 GMC 1500 SLE Suburban. Ran just fine, then the ignition shut off when I hit a random bump or pothole. Cost me a $750 tow before I got on here and did the wiggle test. The fuse stopped blowing. I will update if my fuel line/insulation idea didn't work, but I think it will. I will also tape every exposed wire with electricians tape. . .

did u replace the relay just a curious question, sometimes they have rust and water in the inside of the relay but my guess would be that you have a bare wire rubbing somewhere, causing the fuse to blow, anything significant has happened before that issue?

I have a 91 GMC suburban that blows out the ecm fuse?

There is excessive current draw in the ecm for this to happen. I suspect that the ecm has an internal short. If you can get it checked that would be the way to go. If by chance you have had a jump start prior to this then it will be the ecm unit.

MY 96 SUBURBAN 2500 7.4L SUDDENLY DIED WHILE DRIVING. AFTER I COASTED TO A STOP I TRIED TO RESTARTING BUT NO LUCK. HAVING HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED BEFORE I KNEW TO LISTEN FOR THAT SOUND OF THE PUMP...

The key is to find out what is causing the ECM fuse to always blow. With just the key on try and see if any codes are set in the ECM. If not, try a new ECM. If the fuse still blows, then disconnect all accessible electrical for everything, including radios, accessories, relay boxes, etc. except the ECM. If the fuse still blows, then probably something wrong with the wiring to the ECM. If it doesn't blow then start hooking up things one at a time until it blows again. Once it blows, that is your problem.

Ecmb fuse blows as soon as i put in a fuse without keys in the ing.

hi, i have seen this problem before, i am a trained ase mechanic who works in a shop weekly. in my case, the suburban was a 91, it started by blowing the fuse randomly, then as it got further along, the ecm b fuse would blow consistantly as you describe. I found the problem to be in the wiring harness between the fuse block and the electronic control module on the pink/black power wire. It had become hot next to the radio and the insulation had melted into a direct ground to the ecm. then as time passed, it melted six other wires till it hit battery power. this is when it shorted the fuse all the time with key in or out. You should start by checking behind the glove box at the wiring harness going into the ecm, if you can get a schematic for the wiring, it would be better advised. See if you can find the Pink and black stripe wires(there maybe several of them as they power everything from egr solenoid to oxygen sensor possibly) and look for melting of the insulation. If you do find this to be the case, technically you should replace the whole harness, but it is possible the cut and splice in new wires. If any other wires are affected, you should replace these also. Check the whole length of the affected wires, they may have shorted all the way up or down. If this sounds like a big deal, it is! so, good luck, hope this helps.

99 dodge neon # 10 fuse ing feed 15 amp blows out

There's a short in the circut. Check continuity of the wires that feed from that fuse (you'll need a wiring diagram to identify each wire). You've got something that is causing too much amperage to move through the circut and the fuse blows. Make sure the amperage on the fuse is correct for the application (your owner's manual or fuse box diagram should tell you what amperage rating to install in each fuse slot).

Keep blowing ECM fuse on 90 honda accord

I'm thinking the ECM is bad and grounding out, causing the car to blow the fuse. The old gas wouldn't cause this problem.
