Did it run before you changed column? if so you might eed to check you plugged everything in correctly again and make sure you swapped over all the electrical components including any steering lock electrics. if it didn't you will need a code read to find the problem. jon

You would have a qualified repair shop hook up a scan tool to the vehicles OBD 2 connector under the dash an read codes in the computers PCM/ECM - engine computer, BCM - body control module etc.. If you don't know what any of this is your best bet, have a qualified repair shop check it.

SOURCE: chevy steering wheel controls

You first have to disarm and remove the air bag (unscrews with bolts from behind the steering wheel) and then you will see the screws for the switches. Only the silverado awitches will work.

SOURCE: process to change fuel pump on 2001 chevy silverado 1500

take the six bed bolt loose and then take three buddies slide the bed back put in the new pump slide it back n place and put the bed bolts back in. if u drop the tank u can easily break the hard plastis lines that go to the fuel tank. u only have to take the fill lines and taillight wires loose this way its alot quicker, and easier.

SOURCE: 2001 Chevrolet Silverado How to remove rear axle

Remove...
wheels, drums or rotors, the cover for the differential (You will need a drip pan)
remove the "pin" (usually a 5/15" or 8mm head) that secures the spider gear pin. Remove the long spider gear pin, as it should slide out without a lot of force.
Push both axles inward, and remove the left and right "c" clips that hold the axles in.
Note... if you have a limited slip, it may be a little different of a set up due to clutches in the differential.

SOURCE: Needing to replace the power steering pump on a

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery,(WARNING if you have the TheftLock Radio, make the system is off before doing anything that requires the battery to be disconnected)
Remove the radiator upper fan shroud,
Remove the serpentine belt,
Place a drain pan under the hoses to catch the fluid and remove the and remove the hoses from the hard lines coming out of the pump, making a note of which is which, stuff the end of a clean rag into each hose to prevent anything from getting inside it,
Using a pulley removal tool, remove the pulley from the pump,
Remove the four bolts from the rear of the pump( V8 has 4 bolts,V6 has 2 bolts ) and lift the pump out.
Installation,
Place the pump in it's mounting bracket and install the bolts, tighten them to 37 ft lbs.
Connect the hoses and tighten securely,
Press the pulley on the shaft using a pulley installation tool,DO NOT HAMMER IT ON,, the proper position is the front of the hub flush with the end of the shaft,
Install the serpentine belt,
Install the upper fan shroud,
Fill to the cold mark the correct of NEW fluid,
Re-connect the battery cable.
Bleed the system as follows,
Wheels straight ahead,
Start the engine and allow it to fast idle,
Check for leaks,
Re-check the fluid lever and add more if needed to keep it up to the Cold mark,
Move the steering wheel from side to side several times WITHOUT hitting the stops, this will work the air out of the system, keep adding fluid if needed during this process,
When the fluid level stops going down the system should be free of any trapped air,
Set the wheels straight ahead again and allow the engine to run for 5-10 minutes before shutting it down, re-check the fluid level,
Road test the vehicle and drive it long enough to get it up to normal operating temperature,
Re-check fluid level and fill it to the Hot level.

Sounds like you end up at the dealership after-all.They will need to change the vin number to match your truck or the security violation code will not go away.

Trying to change out ignition cylinder on 2001 chevy truck. Got steering wheel off, but can't figure it out from there.

usually you tunr key to run position and insert a tiny screwdriver or paper clip in a hole in the steering column to release switch so you can pull it out. not sure on Silverado though.

You will have to have the dealer reset the security light to restart vehicle.Check all engine and chassie grounds because this is where the lighting would exit the vehicle. It sounds like a ground burnt through.
