Rear wiper on accord 2000 hatchback comes on when reverse gear is selected even with front wiper off.

Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? A wiring diagram for your vehicles windshield wipers electrical circuit would show all components involved . You would need a wiring diagram for testing ,so you know which wires too test . It would show the fuse location - amperage etc.... Which of these is your vehicle - Notchback or hatchback or station wagon .

The fuse would be marked WPR fuse # 9 25 amp. located in the IP fuse panel . IP - instrument panel fuse box . It's location is

Windshield Wiper System
The windshield wiper system consists of a wiper motor, a linkage, a wiper arm and a blade, and a wiper/washer switch. The windshield wiper circuit incorporates a self parking device which consists of a worm gear and a cam plate in order to keep the circuit engaged temporarily when the switch is turned off. The wiper system is driven by a permanent magnet-type motor. The windshield wiper motor is mounted on the dash panel and is directly connected to the windshield wiper linkage.
The windshield wiper motor has 2 speeds, LO and HI, and also has intermittent wiper capability. The wiper switch is an integral part of the wiper/washer switch. Windshield wiper operation is actuated through the lever on the right side of the steering column.

In the under hood fuse box , should have diagram inside the lid . Front wiper's or rear ? Front fuse # 36 - 25 amp. Plus Two relay's PCB hi and Wiper PCB relay . Wouldn't think this being fuse problem . Wiper switch , motor etc... The wiper's are control by a computer . BCM - body control module .

The windshield wiper/washer system consists of front and rear wipers. The front and rear wipers are operative when the vehicle is in accessory or run. The front wipers have 4 different modes: Mist, Intermittent, Low, and High. When the front wipers are in the intermittent mode, there are 5 delay modes to chose from, commanded by the windshield wiper washer switch through the body control module (BCM). The rear wipers has an only one mode.

If the fuse is bad , could have a short to ground or wiper motor pulling to much current (amps) . Fuse's don't just blow for no reason ! Could also have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM .

DTC B3715 02: Front Wiper Relay Drive Circuit Short to Ground
The body control module (BCM) controls the wiper motor based on input from the windshield wiper washer switch. The BCM monitors the wiper washer switch through three separate signal circuits and a ground circuit. The windshield wiper switch high signal circuit is used to determine high speed wiper operation, the windshield wiper switch low signal is used to determine low speed, intermittent, and mist operation through the use of a resistor ladder, and windshield washer switch signal circuit is used to determine washer operation.
The BCM controls the windshield wiper motor through two output controls, controlling two different PCB relays which control the desired wiper speed, high or low.

The PCB relay's are non- servicable , replace fuse box . Soldered in Your best bet mit be to take it to a qualified repair shop .

It is on the multifunction switch, there are two different switches, one is w/rear wiper and one is wo/rear wiper. If you can't see the switch or it looks different from the one in the picture maybe the car had the switch replaced with the wrong one. . See the switches at the link below.

You have a wireing short

Check fuse no. 11 (10A) in the driver's under dash fuse/relay box. I suspect it is blown. It provides power for the rear wiper, both washers, and the intermittent wiper function for front and rear. It probably blew when your rear wiper got stuck.

The rear wiper on CR-V's is designed to go on when the front wipers are on and either one of 2 things: 1. you turn the rear wiper switch on, or 2. when the front wipers are on, if you shift into reverse, the rear wiper automatically is activated. Is it one of these, or do they just run all the time the front wipers are on? If that's the case, you probably need to have the wiper switch replaced. If the dealer said he's not sure, go to another dealer.

IT sounds like your reverse gear is going out, or that you need to have filter replaced my best advise is have your transmission checked out by a transmission shop as soon as possible.

IF IT IS A HATCHBACK(3DOOR)THE WIRING FROM THE HATCH TO THE BODY BREAKS.BUT IF THE MOTOR WAS GOING SLOW THEN STOPPED.SOUNDS LIKE THE WIPER MOTOR IS BAD
