Can't program home link in my 2005 bmw x5 with a rolling code garage door opener

The problem is that you have a rolling code opener. The code is randomly generated so there is no way for the car to read/learn that.

How do I program my garage remote in my 2003 es300 Lexus?

You probably need to program the garage door opener, not the car.I have only had to program the Craftsman opener in my garage once(our 2005 Grand Caravan has a built in opener)The opener should have a programming button(my Craftsman opener's button is under one of the light covers). It will probably have the programming instructions near the button(in TINY print). You will want to have ALL of your garage remotes handy(to make sure they all still work after adding the car's remote-some openers have a maximum number of transmitters allowed.

Remote door opener

So, you get out your remote control to your garage door opener and, then get your owners manual to your new car. You need to follow the instructions from the manufacturer to be able to program the remote control to the car.

Ok, you have followed the instructions from the car manufacturer and you press the button for the garage door to go up.......and nothing happens. So, then you think you have missed a step on the programing. Well, what most instruction manuals leave out is the step from programing the car/truck/van to the garage door machine itself. On the back side of your garage door opener is a panel called the logic board. The logic board is the computer or brain of the machine. Most new garage door openers now are a mulit-code machine. By that, i mean it uses several signals each time you press the button on your remote control. This is for security, so your code can't be stolen by a code-grabber.

Now, comes the step of programing the vehicle to your garage door opener. Once you have followed the instructions of programing your vehicle, you now have to "teach" the car to the garage door opener. You will need some help doing this. You will have to get someone to press the button in your vehicle and hold it down, while someone else has to press the learn button on the back your your garage door opener mounted on the ceiling. The learn button on the back of your machine will be square if using a liftmaster machine. Craftsman, Liftmaster, Chamberlain are all the same. Their learn buttons are square, and usually are yellow, red/orange, or purple. If using a Genie, it has a button that says "learn button".

The person pushing the button on the machine will only have to push and release the learn button. DO NOT hold this button down. If you do, it erases all of the programing in the machine, and you have to re-program all the remote controls that you have. You will have to read my other hub to find out how to do that. You will probably say a few words you shouldn't either. :-) Programing the vehicle to the machine only takes a second, and when the machine accepts the code, the light bulb on the machine should flash for a brief moment, and you should hear audible click. Yep, it's that easy! I dont know why the auto makers leave that step out. Anyway, i hope this helps, and if you have any questions.. leave them in my comments and i will try to walk you through it. See the photo above and you will see the typical logic board...the square red/orange learn button is easy to see. Just remember to press and release

PROGRAM PRIUS GARAGE DOOR HOW DO I PROGRAM THE BUTTONS ON THE PRIUS' REAR VIEW MIRROR TO OPEN THE GARAGE DOOR

There was a minor change for mine to work.. see below..

- you must park your Prius close to the gate opener, leaving it running (obviously not in the way of the gate closing)
- Hold the button the the mirror and then push your garage door remote button and hold until the light on the mirror starts to flasyh fast. THIS programs the button on the mirror, but not the garage opener - yet (this was key for me)
- locate the "learning button" on the opener itself
- press the "learning button" on your gate opener and then get back into the Prius within 30 seconds (more time than it sounds) and press the SAME Homelink button you just programmed above. I don't recall how long I held the pre-programmed button, but the light will flash as I recall.
- Then, when working the garage door, you may need to hold the mirror button for a good second for it to work - but I had tried for months to get mine to work, and finally after reading many posts, the above sequence worked on my 2008 Prius with my Lift Master, Security + rolling codes garage opener.

Just - program the button on the mirror with your remote FIRST.. the garage opener will not work.. then use the Learn button on the garage opener and the SAME BUTTON you just programmed.. and it worked great for me. Not programming the mirror button first will not work. Using only the Learn button will not work. You must program the mirror first with the remote, then use the learn button and the SAME button on the mirror. Hope this helps.

I want to program garage door opener in my 2006

Hold the button on your Homelink unit for 20 seconds. The light will begin to blink fast.

Place the remote door opener within one inch of the homelink console and press and hold the button on the remote until the light on the homelink unit begins flashing slower, long blinks.

The code is programmed.

If the programming fails, try restarting the process, but pushing the remote button and holding, then repushing and holding, as some remotes do not transmit long enough to program.

Here is the factory directions for reference, it is a very large picture so I linked it:

The buttons for garage will not program in my Lexus RX 330 2004

The buttons inside the vehicle are syncronized/programmed with the operatus that physically opens and closes your garage door, not the operner... The garage door opener needs to have a "programming" feature switch that must be set to "programming" before you can program the buttons inside the car...

There are step by step instructions in your owners manual... This could be a 2 person operation...

I have a 2004 RX and had the same problem, simply because I didn't follow the instructions precisely..

Good luck...Oz

Having trouble setting garage door opener to my 2004 trailblazer

1. Position vehicle within 10 feet of garage door- engine off and battery on.

2. Press/hold 2 outside buttons of Homelink transceiver until red indicator starts flashing rapidly, then release button. This should take about 20 seconds. This erases any previously learned codes.

3. Press/hold remote control and press/hold button of Homelink transceiver simultaneously. Slowly move remote control from 5" away to 1" away from Homelink transceiver. Release both buttons after red indicator starts blinking rapidly. This should take about 5 seconds. I discovered that the Homelink in my TL is a bit faulty because it took much longer to accomplish this than when programming the Homelink in my MDX. My TL's Homelink may "unlearn" it's code in the future and the needed proximity of the TL to the garage door may be much closer than desired until I get the Homelink fixed.

4. Press training button on garage door opener unit until the indicator lights illuminates- this should be immediate.

5. Within 30 seconds press/hold the Homelink button for 2-3 seconds until the red indicator starts flashing rapidly. Repeat a second time. It should now be programmed. Check it by pressing the programmed button on the Homelink receiver.

6. When programming more than 1 garage door opener unit, disconnect power from unit before programming more units. By not doing this the programmed unit could conflict with the unprogrammed units commands.

Problems:

1. The Battery in the garage door remote may be too weak to program Homelink. However, the battery may be strong enough to operate the garage door. One of my remote controls had a weak battery- my system was installed today, fresh out of the box. I had to use the second remote control for the programming of Homelink on my 2 vehicles.

2. Antenna on the garage door opener unit must be hanging down, fully extended.

Programming the garage door opener

Homelink Garage Door Opener Programming Procedure:

The procedure described below was successfully applied to a 2005 Jaguar S-Type.

To begin with, several attempts were made using the programming instructions contained in my Jaguars owners manual. Though the procedure described in the owners manual was straight-forward and understandable, I was unsuccessful in getting the vehicles remote to make my garage door opener function. The particular garage door openers I have are both made by Genie. Both openers utilize the Rolling Code feature.

To begin with, be sure to clear previous codes on your Jaguars garage door opener by first turning (rotating) the ignition key to the I position (first notch). Next, simultaneously hold button 1 (left most button) and button 3 (right most button) down until the middle buttons red light changes from continuous on to a rapid flash. This process takes approximately 20-25 seconds. What follows is a two part process. In the first part, get your Genie portable remote and hold it near (approximately 3 inches away from) your Jaguars garage door opener console buttons. Choose which button on your Jaguars remote you wish to dedicate to your Genie door opener and simultaneously press and hold your Genie opener button and your Jaguars opener button. The red light on your Jaguars center button (button #2) will light up and within 1-2 seconds will begin to flash rapidly. You have just completed part 1 of the two part process.

Part two: Now it is time to utilize the Learn function on your Genie garage door opener. Press the Learn button on your Genie garage door opener. The red LED adjacent to the Learn button will begin to flash. You now have 30 seconds in which to program your Jaguars opener button. Using the same button you just used in the part 1 procedure, press and hold the same button for several seconds. As before, your Jaguars red light in the middle button will light up and within 1-2 seconds, it will flash rapidly. Release the button you are programming. Now, here is the key piece of information! Once again, press and hold that same button. Once again, the center buttons red light will flash rapidly. Release your newly programmed button. This procedure proved successful in my application. Here is what has just happened. The first time you pressed your Jaguars remote button tells the Genie opener that it exists and that it is a viable candidate for making your life easier (opening the damn door). The second time you press your Jaguars remote button confirms to the Genies rolling code that your Jaguars signal is legitimate and is to be trusted from then on.
