You should first disconnect the battery overnight to see if it stays charged. If not, it could be an internal short in the battery. If ok, then look for the drain. WIth engine running at 1500-2000 rpms, the voltage at the battery should read 14 volts if the chargning system is working.

SOURCE: Battery is drained by an internal short even with

Yes, it is very possible that a small internal short in the starter or alternator can cause this. Sometimes the starter wires can lightly touch and cause it to lose a charge. There are a number of things that can short and cause a battery to die over an extended period time. You should probably consult a specialist because it can be difficult to track down.

It may not have one.
If there is no fitting on the bottom or the back side of the tanks, you would need to remove the lower hose to drain it.

2001 Mercury villager battery drains after 2 days. New battery, alternator and starter. Something is causing a constant drain any one know if this is common?

Not common to your car in particular, but common.
Unhook your battery each night to keep from draining the battery whilst you search out the problem.
Put a test meter between the battery and the cable you took off to see how much of a short there is.
Some things that I have found were:
1) Some new replacement radios will drain a battery because they are on all the time, like most television sets today.
2) I have a car, (and have had a few more) that the glove box , (being plastic) was warped, and the glove box light stayed on all the time. I had to remove the bulb.
3) An alarm system, and some are factory built in, can drain a battery.
4) A trunk light, an under-the-hood light, or something else can do this.
Be blessed.

I got 1993 mercury villager.. and the problem is theirs no current flow on everything the door switch is not working i can't start the engine no radio no brake light no horn the blower is not working...

Battery problem, you can jump start the battery, you may have charging system problem. This is where the alternator can not supply the demands and does not have the capability of charging the battery. Or you can have a battery problem that has drain due to some light that was left on and a simple recharge will fix it, make sure you check and clean the battery terminals and ensure they are tighten up

99 mercury villager van

Yes, but you need lots of skill and body tools to permanantly repair that. This is caused by owners not knowing that there are tiny drain holes in the bottom of the doors, that get clogged up with dirt. If a person just checked and cleaned them out once a year, with a pipe cleaner.......this would never have happened
