I have had my 2006 GMC Envoy since 2006, has 228,000 miles on it, never has caught fire. There is a recall for driver's door window switch. They will fix for free at GMC.

Why did it catch fire ? what did you hook up wrong ? Ignition switch is a input to the BCM - body control module , before you fry the BCM ,do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop.

Most popular problem here is the whole switch assembly may be burnt due to water intrusion. There IS a fairly new re-call on these switches. When door is open while raining, water can get into the switches and short out. I've had this happen to me personally, switch melted and can cause a fire. I took the switchout, just pops out, unplug the electrical connector. I got another one from the junkyard, about $75. I got my recall notice after I performed the repair. Call the dealer and ask about the recall. They take the switchout, replace it, and put a coating onto new switch, to protect from water intrusion.
The blower motor is located behind the glove box. Open the glove box and at the left rear is a wire catch mechanism, push on this and the box will move further down. The motor and blower motor resistor module can be accessed here. Does the blower work on any of the speeds? If yes, then suspect the resistor module. If no, check for a blown fuse or bad motor.
the core is bad if you find water on the inside the bolts to take out the coolet / heater core is found on the fire wall under the hood you have to remve all the hoses when you do be sure to use coller coded tape that you can buy a an autoparts store . its best to replce this because of all the chems that cause wear and tear they do not leak if they are good
hey i think i know what the problem that mad it catch on fire me and my dad had the same problem with old car and it was geting way to much gas to the engine and it whent up into flames in my drive way we took the engine apart and we seen it with a lot of gas thare and we started it back up then we trund it off and we took it apart agin and that was it so we sold it to my to my friend
fan blower speed switch under hood usually in fire wall or in heater box under dash area if you do not change it you will keep losing all your speeds until nothing left! it is not!!!!the one in your dash that you hand operate! hope this helps.John
