I have a jeep cherokee 01 and the check engine light is on and it says its the injector circuit open cylinder. what dose this mean and can i drive my jeep? will it hurt it to drive it?
Re: i have a jeep cherokee 01 and the check engine
Tinyp78 has it right if it has the check engine light on then don't run it as it will damage the catalytic converter, as well if the injector fails and exlodes the parts can go into engine and damage a valve or cylinder.

If not pulsing, could be a bad pcm. The computer grounds the injectors internally for a split second to pulse them . If trash or debris is not making them stick open, buy a "noid light" for checking injector circuits. Plug it in to #1 or #5 and crank engine over: if circuit is working right, noid light will be blinking. If light is on steady, computer is not interrupting ground to cause pulsing.
If the check engine light does NOT come on when cranking, at the times
when it won't start, and the relays are clicking and buzzing, then your ECU is in need of repair. The engine will
only start after the check engine light comes on and the ecu is what
controls that. ECU is likely going bad, causing the delayed start problem
typical of early 90's jeeps. Reasonably priced repair or replacement services for your
jeep ECU are available on ebay.

I have seen jeep TPS - throttle position sensors cause a surge like you describe , but not with injector circuit code's . The PCM - engine computer controls the injectors by supplying a PWM - pulse width modulation ground . Checking the electrical circuits for those injector's would be the thing to do . Do you know how to test electrical circuit's ? Plus checking the drivers (transistors ) inside the PCM should be done . Could be a wiring or computer problem or even those injectors could be failing . How to Check Fuel Injector Resistance with Multimeter How to test fuel injector circuit with basic tools open control wire
douple ck all the ground wiresto engine, trans bell housing ,battery or frame/firewall look for any that may have separated from any pack of wires or broken off eyelets then thightnen all points,,.these grounds are very important to comp/injection controls and can cause a multi code problem like yours.
It could be a faulty pcm or wiring as you stated in you post. the pcm pulses a ground to the injector circuit allowing the solenoid in the injector to activate momentarily are inject fuel into the intake. if you give me the engine size. V8 4.7L or strait 6 cylinder 4.0L and i will post the proper wiring diagram for the fuel injectors to help you out with your battle
