You can replace it with a cruise button unit, but think about it, thats not the only part of cruise control, there are several parts which your vehicle probably doesnt have..

SOURCE: how to replace cruise on/off switch in 2001 buick

no you should not have to there a 2 covers that surround the collumn then you should be able to change out the cruise. Especially on newer cars James be careful on these believe it or not everything is controlled by those wires in the collumn. If you need any more go to collisionrepairadvice.com

2011 chev express cruise control not working

The most common reasons a Chevrolet Express cruise control isn't working are failed control module, sensor or switch issues, or throttle actuation problems.

Why isn't cruise control working?

Did you replace the cruise control release switch and relay? They are cheap from RockAuto. This sounds like your problem. (The relay is made so that it will not engage, if it will not release.)

Faulty Deactivation Switch for Cruise Control

No coincidence Pal. That cutout switch is part of the brake light switch and is easy to replace. It just screws into a bracket at the brake pedal lever and has a jamb nut on it to lock in position. Just get one from a parts store and replace it yourself.

2001 F-150 cruise control stopped working. Already checked the fuse and it's good. What's next

really tough to do on the net but first we need to know about any codes...

Hold speed control OFF button, and turn ignition switch to RUN position. CRUISE indicator should flash once to indicate successful entry into self-diagnostic mode. If CRUISE indicator does not flash, start procedure over. If CRUISE indicator still does not flash, repair system by symptom there might be some switch concern

If CRUISE CONTROL indicator flashes once followed by 5 additional flashes, replace speed control servo/actuator.

Release speed control OFF button. Within 5 seconds in entering self-diagnostics, press speed control ON button. Press remaining speed control buttons in the following sequence; ON, RES, COAST and SET/ACCEL.

As each button is pressed, CRUISE indicator will flash.

Wait until indicator light goes out, then press next button. After sequence has been completed, indicator light will flash to indicate test passed or failed. With the codes we can then better diagnose your concern

Immediately after static test has passed, actuator performs a dynamic test by automatically operating throttle .04-.40" (1-10 mm). Observe throttle movement to witness any sticking in cable or linkage. Ensure throttle returns properly. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. If self-diagnostics do not pinpoint fault there is more we can do but tough over the net

Cruise control stopped working on my 93 sierra changed cruise control module under hood still wont work whats wrong?!

it is most likely the button itself being worn. replace the button.(i think it is on the turn signal in your truck) if it is the signal switch kind, you will need the whole multifunction switch.

2001 Pontiac Firebird has turn signal problem

The turns, hazards, high/ low headlamps, possibly cruise cont. and wipers, are all operated by the "multifunction switch". Replace it and you should be good to go. I hope this helps.
