With Delphi Blower Motor
  1. If equipped, remove the sound insulator panel.
  2. Remove the blower motor insulating cover screws.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor.
  4. Remove the blower motor insulating cover.
  5. Pull the retaining tab down while turning the blower motor counterclockwise in order to disengage the blower motor from the heater/ventilation module.
  6. Remove the blower motor.

With Visteon Blower Motor
  1. Remove the sound insulator panel.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor.
  3. Remove the screws from the blower motor.
  4. Remove the blower motor from the HVAC module.
  5. Remove the retainer from the blower motor wheel. Discard the retainer.
  6. Remove the blower motor wheel from the blower motor.

To Remove:
  1. Remove the PCM.
  2. Remove the coolant reservoir.
  3. Remove the rear coolant recovery reservoir mounting stud.
  4. Disconnect the cooling tube from the blower motor.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor.
  6. Remove the blower motor mounting bolts.
  7. Remove the blower motor insulating cover.
  8. Remove the blower motor.
To Install:
  1. Install the blower motor.
  2. Install the blower motor mounting bolts.
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the blower motor.
  4. Connect the cooling tube to the blower motor.
  5. Install the rear coolant recovery reservoir mounting stud.
  6. Install the coolant reservoir.
  7. Install the PCM.

To Remove:
  1. Remove the PCM.
  2. Remove the coolant reservoir.
  3. Remove the rear coolant recovery reservoir mounting stud.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor.
  5. Move the PCM connectors out of the way.
  6. Remove the blower motor access cover screws. CAUTION
    Do not cut any deeper than necessary in order to remove the access cover.
  7. Cut through the access cover on the cut line using a sharp utility knife.
  8. Disconnect the cooling tube from the blower motor.
  9. Remove the blower motor mounting bolts.
  10. Remove the blower motor.
To Install:
  1. Install the blower motor.
  2. Install the blower motor mounting bolts.
  3. Connect the cooling tube to the blower motor.
  4. Install the blower motor access cover.
  5. Install the blower motor access cover retaining screws.
  6. Using black weather-strip adhesive, seal the cut line.
  7. Connect the blower motor electrical connector.
  8. Reposition the PCM connectors.
  9. Install the rear coolant recovery reservoir mounting stud.
  10. Install the coolant reservoir.
  11. Install the PCM.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Open the glove box door. Gently squeeze the retainers at the rear of the box inward and allow the box to swing downward. NOTE: If additional access is required, unfasten the glove box hinge retainers and remove the assembly.
  3. Label and disconnect the electrical harness from the blower motor.
  4. Remove the blower motor housing tube and/or blower motor cover.
  5. Remove the blower motor retaining screws.
  6. Remove the blower motor from the A/C evaporator. To install:
  7. Install the blower motor in the A/C evaporator and tighten the retaining screws securely.
  8. Install the blower motor housing tube and/or blower motor cover.
  9. Connect the electrical harness to the blower motor.
  10. Reinstall the glove box and close its door.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.

  3. Remove the three push pin retainers from the lower edge of the auxiliary heater and air conditioning service cover.
  4. Lift the service cover outward and upward to remove.
  5. Label and disconnect the electrical harness.
  6. Remove the blower motor housing tube.
  7. Loosen the three retaining screws and remove the blower motor. To install:
  8. Install the blower motor and tighten retaining screws securely.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION


With Air Conditioning
See Figures 1, 2 and 3

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the glove compartment door and glove compartment.
  3. Disconnect the blower motor wires from the blower motor resistor.

  1. Loosen the instrument panel at the lower right-hand side prior to removing the motor through the glove compartment opening.
  2. Remove the blower motor and mounting plate from the evaporator case.
  3. Rotate the motor until the mounting plate flat clears the edge of the glove compartment opening and remove the motor.
  4. Remove the hub clamp spring from the blower wheel hub. Then remove the blower wheel from the motor shaft.

To install:

  1. If removed, assemble the blower wheel to the motor shaft and install the hub clamp.
  2. Install the motor and blower wheel assembly.
  3. Secure the instrument panel at the lower right-hand side.
  4. Connect the blower motor wires at the blower motor resistor.
  5. Install the glove compartment door and the glove compartment.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Check the system for proper operation.

Without Air Conditioning

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air inlet duct assembly.
  3. Remove the hub clamp spring from the blower wheel hub. Pull the blower wheel from the blower motor shaft.
  4. Remove the blower motor flange attaching screws located inside the blower housing.
  5. Pull the blower motor out from the blower housing (heater case) and disconnect the blower motor wires from the motor.

To install:

  1. Connect the wires to the blower motor and position the motor in the blower housing.
  2. Install the blower motor attaching screws.
  3. Position the blower wheel on the motor shaft and install the hub clamp spring.
  4. Install the air inlet duct assembly and the right ventilator assembly.
  5. Connect negative battery cable.
  6. Check the system for proper operation.

The blower motor is located behind the glovebox, behind the blower motor cover

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable, then wait 2 minutes before proceeding with the removal. This will effectively disable the air bag system preventing possible personal injury.
  2. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel.
  3. Remove the A/C-heater blower motor cover.
  4. Disconnect the blower motor wiring connector.
  5. Remove the blower motor wiring grommet and feed the wiring through the blower motor housing.
  6. Remove the blower motor mounting screws.

Once the cover is removed, unplug the electrical connector and push it through the opening in the housing

The blower motor is secured to the housing with three small screws

  1. Allow the blower motor assembly to drop downward to clear the instrument panel and remove from vehicle.
To install:
  1. Place the blower motor assembly into position on the A/C-heater unit and tighten the mounting screws.
  2. Route the blower motor wiring through the blower motor housing and seat the wiring grommet in the hole of the blower motor housing.
  3. Reconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
  4. Install the A/C-heater blower motor cover.
  5. Install the glove box into the instrument panel.
  6. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Check blower motor operation.

Without Air Conditioning

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner or air inlet duct, as necessary.
  3. If necessary, Remove the speed control module and the washer fluid reservoir.

  1. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the blower motor by pushing down on the connector tabs and pulling the connector off of the motor.
  2. Disconnect the blower motor cooling tube at the blower motor.

  1. Remove the 2 screws attaching the blower motor and wheel to the heater blower assembly.
  2. Holding the cooling tube aside, pull the blower motor and wheel from the heater blower assembly and remove it from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the blower wheel push-nut and/or clamp from the motor shaft and pull the blower wheel from the motor shaft.
To install:
  1. Install the blower wheel on the blower motor shaft.
  2. Install the hub clamp and/or push-nut.
  3. Holding the cooling tube aside, position the blower motor and wheel on the heater blower assembly and install the 2 attaching screws.
  4. Connect the blower motor cooling tube and the wire harness connector.
  5. Install the vacuum reservoir on the hoses with the 1 screws.
  6. If removed, install the speed control module and the washer fluid reservoir.
  7. Install the air cleaner or air inlet duct, as necessary.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable and check the system for proper operation.

With Air Conditioning
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. In the engine compartment, disconnect the wire harness from the motor by pushing down on the tab while pulling the connection off at the motor.
  3. Remove the air cleaner or air inlet duct, as necessary.
  4. If necessary, remove the solenoid box cover retaining bolts and the solenoid box cover.
  5. Disconnect the blower motor cooling tube from the blower motor.
  6. Remove the blower motor mounting plate attaching screws and remove the motor and wheel assembly from the evaporator assembly blower motor housing.
  7. Remove the blower motor hub clamp from the motor shaft and pull the blower wheel from the shaft.
To install:
  1. Install the blower motor wheel on the blower motor shaft and install a new hub clamp.
  2. Install a new motor mounting seal on the blower housing before installing the blower motor.
  3. Position the blower motor and wheel assembly in the blower housing and install the attaching screws.
  4. Connect the blower motor cooling tube.
  5. Connect the electrical wire harness hard shell connector to the blower motor by pushing into place.
  6. If removed, position the solenoid box cover into place and install the 2 retaining screws.
  7. Install the air cleaner or air inlet duct, as necessary.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable and check the blower motor in all speeds for proper operation.

CAUTION The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system must be disarmed before removing the blower motor assembly. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment of the air bag, resulting in unnecessary SIR system repairs and/or personal injury.

To Remove:
  1. Remove the instrument panel sound insulator panel (if equipped).
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor.
  3. Remove the blower motor insulating cover screws.
  4. Remove the blower motor insulating cover.
  5. Pull the retaining tab down and rotate blower motor counterclockwise to remove.
To Install:

  1. Position the blower motor and turn assembly clockwise until tab locks in place.
