I have a 98 GMC Sonoma. My service engine soon light is on. I took it to AutoZone and had them diagnose it with a code reader. It came up with code P1621. What does that mean? Also, there is a constant tapping/rattling noise coming from the engine that is more pronounced when I accelerate. Would this code be related to the noise the engine is making, or does this sound like a separate issue?

SOURCE: Have 1996 chevy Silverado 4.3 Service Engine Soon

A P0147 is caused by a failure in the O2 sensor heater circuit. The heater circuit is used to allow a more accurate reading (for O2 sensor) while system is below normal operating temperature. The only way to properly fix this problem is to replace the O2 sensor, however you can clear the code and it may be a few days before it comes back [and sets check engine light]. This condition is somewhat common on GM vehicles of that age.

SOURCE: My servie engine soon light is on and sometimes

Even a loose fuel cap or distributor cap can bring up the light . Without codes it will be like shooting in the dark to identify why it is light up. Any fault , anywhere in the car can cause the engine light to come on.
Unless you face any problem in your car dont break your mind over that.

Are you trying to reset the "Check Engine Light"? If so, go to your local Autozone/ O'Reilley's/ Advanced Auto and borrow one of their engine code readers. You can reset the CPU using the code reader.

I have GMC envoy 2003 and the problem is the service engine soon light all the time and I recently changed the camshaft sensor and the lamp still there

What code is popping up fo the service engine light? If you don't have a reader, take it to an Autozone or a place that will read this light for free. Let us know what the code is to help further, as without this, it could be many different things.

SERVICE ENGINE SOON light comes on & off every 130 miles or so on my 99 GMC Sonoma. Had plugs, wires, cap & exhaust changed.

There to many things that can set off the service engine light on. If there is an Auto Zone or Parts Source around you, have your Sonoma scanned for the DTC codes. It cold be as simple as a faulty gas cap that is setting off your service light to come on.
Thank you for using Fixya.

1994 Sonoma service engine soon. Code 13?

Actually codes are specific to vehicles, you will need to bring it into a shop and have it checked. Any time a "Service Engine Soon" light comes on, you have and emissions problem, and it will not pass inspection
