Transmission cable replacement

Replacing the transmission cable on a vehicle can be a complex task that requires some mechanical and electrical knowledge. The transmission cable is responsible for connecting the transmission to the gear shifter mechanism and allowing the driver to change gears.
Here's a general guideline on how to replace the transmission cable on a vehicle:
  1. Locate the transmission cable. It runs from the transmission to the gear shifter mechanism and is typically located under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the old transmission cable. This typically involves disconnecting the cable from the transmission and the gear shifter mechanism, and removing any clips or retaining bolts that hold the cable in place.
  3. Install the new transmission cable. This typically involves connecting the new cable to the transmission and the gear shifter mechanism, and installing any clips or retaining bolts that hold the cable in place.
  4. Adjust the cable. Make sure that the cable is properly adjusted and that the transmission is in the correct gear.
  5. Test the new cable. Test the new cable by shifting gears and making sure that the transmission is shifting smoothly.
It's important to have a good understanding of the vehicle's transmission and gear shifter mechanism, and to be familiar with the tools and materials needed to do the job properly. Also, make sure to have the right replacement cable for your vehicle.
A professional mechanic or a transmission specialist could be the best choice to do this task. They will have the necessary knowledge and experience to safely and effectively replace the transmission cable on your vehicle.

2016 ford f150 gear shift stuck in reverse is there a simple fix to the problem

Your problem could be in one of three problems. The shifter its self, the shifter cable, or the transmission. First disconnect the shifter cable from the shifter. It is easily done under the dash. If that frees the shifter, then the next step is to disconnect the cable from the transmission. If the cable then moves freely, then the problem is in the transmission. Fixing the problem depends on what the problem is. There could be a problem with the bushings in the shifter or a broken shifter shaft/restriction. The column is easily lowered to inspect the shaft. If the cable is stuck, it should be replaced. Internal transmission problems requires a mechanic.

Shift my jeep in 4wd now the shifter is loose and it is staying in 4wd

Sounds like the rod from the 4WD shifter has come loose form the transfer case or from the shifter lever. Some use a cable. Look under the vehicle. A rod or cable will go from the shifter to the transfer case. If it is a cable and the ends appear attached the cable is broken inside the housing. Reattach ends of rod or replace cable .
