Make sure the park lights, front and rear all work. Most often the dash lights work on the same fuse as the park lights, and if the fuse is gone the dash lights will not work.
Park lights are sensitive to short circuits, especially if you have a trailer plug. Electrics on trailers are almost never checked or serviced, and when you couple a trailer, the tail light / park light fuse pops, and you end up with no dash lights.
Just one more thing to check.
If only the speedometer is inop, it will 90% of the time be a speed sensor. 1 10mm bolt and a plug tales 5 minutes to replace
If any other issues occur it is likely In th dash and see earlier suggestions or seek a professional shop, or a salvage yard to replace the cluster . Is your easliest solutions

I had the same problem with my 90 daytona. The tach and the speedometer would work intermitantly. I took the whole gauge cluster out, and heated all the soldering with a solder gun to reflow the connections. It seems that this is a common problem with the connections cracking. You may not be able to see the cracks in the solder.
SOURCE: Lights on speedometer do not light up, which fuse is for the dash?
On the left of the steering wheel there is the knob for the headlights. Click them on completly. Next to that knob is a rollable up and down Dimmer swithch make sure it is rolled all the way up. The lights should come on. If they do not then maybe the gauge bulbs are blown out. If that is the case you will have to take the dash apart and change the bulbs in the gauges. BEfore you do that, Are all the other lights out as well? radio lights? ac/ heat control lights out?

hi there try to get a price on the speed sensor located on the transmission this sensor tells the computer how fast the van is going in turn the transmission shifts gears and there will be information sent to the speedometer . the reason the van only goes in low gear is to protect the system because the sensor is damaged so replace the speed sensor and try again , let me know how its running after relpaceing the sensor good luck

These vehicles seem to have a problematic short, my grandfather has the same vehicle with the same problem, i found the short under the carpet on the driver side of the vehicle, under the gas pedal, sometimes wires can crack and break.
