Either the return spring on the brake pedal is allowing the brake switch to stay on or the switch needs adjusting.

SOURCE: Tail Lights & Brake Lights stay on even when car is turn off

the plastic round stopper most probably broke that is were the stoplight switch sits when not depressed easy fix find a washer small enough to block the hole were the original plastic stopper was making sure the washer aligns to the brake light switch and secure washer w/ zipties hope this helps.

2008 Subaru Forester. The parking lights and rear tail lights stay on after I turn off the key?

Faulty switch, or you have a Body control Module communication issue. You need an auto-electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to check live data and communication between all the systems.

Or it is the Parking Light secret switch!!

2009 kia spectra thedash lights stay on.rear tail lights and dash lights what would cause this

If you mean the illumination lights on the dashboard stay on as well as the tail lights even when the light switch on the turn signal stalk is turned off then it may be the turn signal/light switch. you can unplug this switch and if the lights turn off this is your most likely cause. If not you will need to get a wiring diagram to further diagnose the problem.

2005 ford escape rear tail lights stay on

Sounds like the brake lights are staying on, which is probably a faulty brake light switch on the pedal.

Tail light stays on when car is off

you may need to replace the light control module located at the left of the steering column.. this is a common problem. Also some remote starters have this problem the relay stays on. if your vehicle has one in it you can test it by unplugging the unit, should turn off these lights.

Brake lights dont work untill i turn the lights on, then stay on

Hi, are the tail lights and the brake lights in the same light unit?
If so, there is a possibility the bulbs are in the wrong way. If it is a stop/tail bulb then there are two locating pegs on the side of the metal part. If you look, one is higher than the other which has to locate into the correct slot in the holder.

Another possibility is the bulb is wrong, there are double and single contacts. Check the contact on the base of the bulb is the same as the contacts in the holder.

Tail light stays even when ignition switch is turned off.

Is it your tail lights or Brake lights? My 88 Couger had a brake switch that went bad and the Brake Lights stayed on.
