You have to bring it to a GM dealer and have them link up the ecm on-line to reset the security code (pass lock). The steering column has a security feature as an anti-theft device.

You will have to "relearn" the new steering columns key tumbler code. Follow the steps below exactly and the new code will be accepted.
Make sure you have a battery charger on the battery so the truck battery will not drain. If the battery goes dead, you will have to start over. Read the instructions below carefully and follow exact.
1st, Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, DO NOT attempt to start the truck. Leave the key in the ON position for 10 full minutes.
After the first 10 minutes is up, rotate the key to the OFF position and leave it there for a count of 3.
2nd, Turn the ignition switch back to the run position again for 10 minutes, again DO NOT try to start the truck and leave it in the ON position.
3rd, You will have to repeat the same step for an additional 10 minutes. This will be a total of 30 minutes. After this final 3rd step, turn the key to the OFF position for a count of 10, then turn the key to the start position and the truck will start, the key tumbler code is now relearned to clear the theft mode.
Good luck.

My 1999 silverado still has a problem. as you know i changed out the steering column and it wouldnt start so i reprogrammed the column to the truck. now it will start but immediately dies. How do i go...

This may not be helpful, but if I was troubleshooting this I would start off by not assuming it has to be related to the steering column work. At that point I would double check everything from fuel pressure to electronic sensors and perhaps even start by looking if any codes have logged. I would also check the condition of ground straps, etc unless you have a good reason to suspect the ignition switch and column?

1999 silverado wont start getting fuel no spark from coil packs

I would start at the ignition switch located about halfway down the column. Make sure that is functioning first.

How to fix a1998 buick century to start fuel filter new and airfilter turning over but not starting gets gas

Did you check for spark? It sounds like you're not getting spark. Check for spark. If you are not getting spark then it sounds like you might have to replace the coil packs. Is it running a L4 engine? If its running a standard chevy L4 its probably the coil packs. Try to replace them check again for spark.

Coil pack

A good way to find out is to use a spray bottle and spray it with water and see if you can get it to act up.You have a coil not a coil pack.Just follow the coil wire from the distributor,it goes to the coil.If you wet it down and it does not start then replace it.Hope this helps.Good luck.

2005 chevy silverado won;t start.

i had the same problem, and it turned out the coil pack was moulding inside wich stopped the spark all together, i ended up changing my coil pack and putting on new wires because the ends connected to the coil were very corroded and that cures the not running part just fine
