My Ford Freestar has a 4.2 Eng. and I am getting a P0180 code indicating a problem with the MAP sensor. What are the normal pressures one should get? The freeze frame data showed a reading of 75.3(which probably set the code) and a running test shows 10.9 at 690 RPM. Is this a normal reading or is there something else I should be checking?
SOURCE: Cleaning the Mass Air Flow Sensor
i will try to help. 171/174 indicates lean condition in engine. the mass air flow sensor is located in the rubber tube going to throttlebody. you can try to clean it. using mild carb cleaner safe for sensors, remove sensor from tube. spray clean the tiny wires located in the cylinder. do not touch them, they are very delicate. these engines are also notorious for leaking intake gaskets and faulty pcv valves. these will all set these 2 codes. feel free with anymore questions.
SOURCE: I get a DTC P0133 code on my 1998 Ford Explorer V8
it may be a defective O2 sensor here is th difinition:
P0133 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 1 , this is the sensor on the side of the engine that #1 cylinder is on, it is the sensor before the cat.
SOURCE: Fuel rail pressure sensor chkt high input p0193
Mine is on too (MIL, with p0193), 2005 freestar. My dealer can't figure it out for some reason? So I went out and bought a code reader, will fix it myself!
Anyways it can be the fuel pressure sensor (approx $100 for part), the fuel pump, or regulator on the fuel line, not too sure what they are worth, and time for labour? I am currently looking for a test gauge to check the pressure in the fuel line to see if it is pump or regulator or sensor. Hopefully your service guys can run a few similar tests and determine what needs to go.
