SOURCE: how remove 1966 Ford Mustang 200 cu.in 6-cyl. crankshaft pulley

Hi,
You can remove that center bolt easily with an impact gun. It has normal threads on it. An impact gun will prove to be an affordable tool that you will use again. You can get an electric one from Harbor Freight. They make the job of removing tough bolts much easier. If the engine is in the car, you might not have enough room. You can use a ratchet and if the engine is turning, you can hold the pulley with another tool sold at Harbor Freight called a rubber strap wrench.

Testimonial: "Will report again when the job is done. Thanks for this info: 1) Center bolt is normal thread 2) Tools can be pruchased at Harbor Freight"

How do you change the block heater in a 1999 Ford Taurus S.E. 3 litre 24valve duratec engine

Remove the inoperative heater and install the new one. You just have to gain access to the side of the engine block where the heater is located. Might have to remove something that is blocking access to the heater like the starter or something else.

How to chg alternator on 2002 ford taurus 24v dohc 3.0

ctionsThings You'll Need
  • Flywheel holding tool
  • New alternator
  • Socket wrench set
  • Torque wrench
    • 1Determine which alternator your Ford Taurus will need. You'll want to be sure the new alternator is compatible with your Taurus's engine. Models made from 1986 to 1991 have a 2.5 L HSC, 3.0 L Vulcan or 3.8 L engine. The 2.5 L engine was dropped for 1992 to 1995 models, and post-1995 models will have a 3.0 L engine.
    • 2Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Release the tension on the accessory drive belt so that you can remove the drive belt from the pulley.
    • 3Take off the mounting bolt on the right side of the alternator with a socket wrench and remove the bracket for the power steering hose. Remove the mounting bolts on top of the alternator, the front passenger wheel and tire assembly and the front fender splash shield. Remove the alternator splash shield with a socket wrench and take off the inspection cover for the torque converter.
    • 4Mount a tool to hold the flywheel so you can remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley. Lower the alternator so you can unplug its electrical connections. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor and Oxygen sensor connector. Remove the lower alternator mounting bolt and B+ connector nut to remove the alternator.
    • 5Install the new alternator assembly by reversing the above procedure. Use a torque wrench to tighten the B+ connector nut to 71 in. lbs. and the lower alternator bolt to 18 foot pounds. Torque the crankshaft pulley bolt to 74. foot pounds, the upper alternator bolts to 18 foot pounds and the nut for the power steering hose bracket to 13 foot pounds.

How do i route the belt on a 1992 ford taurus?

If you don't have a diagram under the hood and the autoparts stores are closed,,(they can print one out for you. They will ask if you have the OHV or 24valve engine.) Just look at your pulleys and notice you have grooved and smooth ones. Hence the ribbed side of the belt goes against the grooves and the smooth side,,,, you got it. Start with the crankshaft and water pump, then work to the a/c, power steering, and finally the Alternator and tensioner.Take your time and work the belt slowly. Try not to kink the belt as you work it along. Eventually you can put a belt on anything.

Looking to replace my alternator on a 1999 ford taurus but dont know how to loosen the belt

To loosen the belt use a 15mm socket on the tensioner pulley. Turn clockwise if you have a OHV engine or counterclockwise if your engine is OHC. Turning this bolt will release pressure on the belt allowing you to remove it from the other pulleys. To identify the tensioner pulley it is just above and to the right of your crankshaft.
Hope this was helpful.

What is the procedure on removing an alternator from a 2001 Taurus with a duratec engine?

Okay, on your engine, the alternator is mounted below the rear cylinder bank of the engine, at the rear of the engine compartment. It'll be easier to access it from the driver's side front fenderwell (take off the right front tire then the plastic lining) or under the car. You might want to go ahead and remove both the liner and work from underneath as you'll need to remove your crankshaft pulley.

1: Disconnect the negative batery cable.

2: Disconnect the electrical connections from the alternator. The output wire is secured by a nut on the output terminal.

3: Revove the serpentine/drive belt.

4: Remove two bolts and one stud bolt that secure the alternator to it's bracket. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

Installation is reverse of removal.

After installing the alternator, reinstall the drivebelt and reconnect the negative battery cable.

To remove the crank-shaft pulley

1: As you'll aready have the wheel, liner, negative battery cable, and serpentine/drivebelt removed, as well as the car on jackstands, I'll omit those steps.

2: Remove the driveplate access cover and hold the ring gear teeth with a large scredriver or pry bar to prevent the crankshaft from turning.

3: Remove the nuts that secure the pullley bracket to the engine front cover. Remove the pulley and bracket.

4: The crankshaft pulley screws into the harmonic balancer with a left hand thread (reverse threaded so rightly loosey lefty tighty). Trun the crankshaft pulley clockwise to loosen and remove it.

5: Hopefully this is where you'll end with the pulley. The harmonic balancer is no fun to remove, but let me know if you need to know this too. After you have your alternator installed, put the pulley back onto the harmonic balancer before installing the serpentine/ drive belt.

Hope this info helps.
